Effect of Slack Tanks

1. State if the tank is full liquid, its effect on the position of the ships center of gravity if the same
as if the liquid were a solid of the same mass.
2. Explains by means of diagram how the center of gravity of the liquid in a partly filled tank moves
during rolling.
3. Explain the surface of the liquid a free to move , there is a virtual increase in KG, resulting on a
corresponding decrease on GM.
4. State the increased in KG is affected mainly by the breadth of the surface and is not dependent
upon the mass of the liquid in the tank.
5. That in tankers the tanks is often constructed with a longitudinal subdivision to reduce breadth
of sea surface.
