Visual inspection of internal expansion joint from outside or inside did not indicate
Signs of damage. Use boroscope to check for signs of coking on the inside of the
bellows. Also, verity the gaps and dimensions per UOP drawings.
VSS windows were found in good condition with no significant indications of erosion
(or damage. One pressure nozzle tip was eroded; Recommend HPCL to repair it
VSS arms outlet had litle signs of erosion of edging bar and linings. Conduct
repairs. Internal riser bracing on VSS arms were found in good condition with no
Significant signs of erosion. There was litle amounts of coke deposited on it;
recommend to clean it.
VSS chamber riser had signs of mild erosion indicating the swirl of catalyst laden
‘9a8 at the outlet of VSS.
Nozzle A17 (LT 2603/PT 2612), intruding into VSS windows, had moderate erosion
at the tip; conduct repairs,
2. Stripper
Stripper baffles 1, 2, 6 and 7 were inspected and found in good condition without
any signs of erosion of jets. Rest of the baffles were not accessible, UOP
recommends HPCL to inspect this section as HPCL typically operates reactor level
at baffle no. 3 or 4 instead of typical, above top bate.
Primary and middle stripping steam were found in good condition with no significant
Signs of erosion, plugging or any other damage. U bott pins were found in good
Condition. Lower steam distributor was not inspected due to lack of access. HPCL.
told UOP that this distibutor was inspected by them and indicated litle catalyst
inside with no significant plugging.
