MEMORY

TOK'S WAYS OF KNOWING

Memory
"Memory is our ability to encode,
store, retain and subsequently recall
information and past experiences in
the human brain."
How does memory works?

The process of memory is first

receive a knowlegde or something
then it is sent to your working
memory which then information can
be kept. A part of the information will
be sent to your long term memory
where it will be further kept.
Memory is not a primary way of knowing.

Rather we use the other ways of knowing to

supply us with a basic knowledge and then we

use memory to intensify and alter that

knowledge.

Furthermore, different people

have different memory hence

not all memories are reliable.

Thus, memory must be handled

with care.
The memory plays an important role in the
acquisition of knowledge. It helps form
our own and shared identity. The memory
stores what you know and your own
experiences and past events. Some of the
other ways of knowing also depends on
memory and how it influence how you
gather an information.
