Moving to Pennsylvania was really rocky for me because I had already decided my

classes for high school in Arizona plus we had gotten our schedules. I had taken a tour of the

high school down there and felt comfortable about the next year. To make matters worse, I really

didn’t want to leave my current best friends although I hoped that eventually I would make new

ones. The first day of Garnet Valley High School was chaotic because I was late to school and it

took me 10 minutes to find my first class. My confidence sank. However, moving taught me how

to adapt to new environments. Although the schedule was confusing, as the days went by it got

easier.

I am glad that I was able to build up my confidence and adapt to this new school. if it had

been harder, then going to school would have been dreadful for me especially making friends.

Adjusting to the new classes wasn’t terrible after all ! However, meeting new people was tough

because I am a very reserved person. I had to learn to come out of my shell. First few weeks I

didn’t speak or sit with anyone because one I knew nobody in the school and second I was

nervous to go up to kids. Gradually as the days went by I started sitting with a group of juniors

who offered me to sit with them. After a few months past by I talked to my classmates who sat

next to me and we have been great friends ever since.

In college, I probably won’t feel comfortable with a roommate at first, but after getting to

know them, it will gradually get better. Moving is never trouble-free because leaving everything

one has adapted to is difficult. After having this experience I think if I ever move again I will be

able to manage myself better.
