CHAPTER 5

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the summary of the research work undertaken, the conclusions

drawn and the recommendation made as an outgrowth of this study. This study is on the lived

experience of student-teachers of University of Perpetual Help System Laguna Isabela-Campus.

This probe was conducted for the aim to determine the lived experience of student-

teachers and the struggles they encountered and what are the strategies to surpass their struggles.

The phenomenological approach was used to establish the lived experience of student-teachers.

Eight student-teachers participated in this study, voluntarily. The study was conducted at

University of Perpetual Help System Laguna Isabela-Campus Basic Education Department

Senior High Level of Academic 2018-2019.

The data obtained by the researchers were analyzed by using Moustakas (1994), re-

detailed by Cresswell (2007).

According to the gathered, analyzed and interpreted data, the researchers came up to the

following findings that answered the core question of the study. The data were obtained from

self-administered guide question, completed by eight participant from University of Perpetual

Help System Laguna Isabela – Campus Basic Education Senior High School Level.

1. The lived experiences of student-teachers, student teaching is important role of the practicum

to provide a supported entry to the profession. The factor with the strongest impact on retention

seems to be the quality of the first teaching experiences, and what student teachers experience in

their practicum creates their view of the profession. Most of the participant stated that student

teaching is all about taking role of a professional teacher, become well prepared to your lesson

plan, making a lesson plan so that class discussion will be success. Lacking with plans and

preparedness will lead student-teachers in failure. Adjusting to new environment is not easy, it is

normal to feel nervous because it is your first time to handle a classroom set-up. A good

teaching practice is the key to influences student-learning. Student-teachers are striving to meet

the principle of good practice in an effort to provide the best learning experience for the learning

experience.

2. The struggles of a student-teachers, is establishing the relationships with their students, teachers

can begin looking at other aspects of classroom management. One of the most difficult aspects for

most teachers to master is behavior management. It is the personality of their learners, student

learners have a variety of traits. Understanding these traits is important as student-teacher

influences the thought, feelings, and behavior of an individual learner and it can have potential

impact on learning behavior. It is also important to realize that the best planned lesson is

worthless if interesting delivery procedures, along with good classroom management techniques,

are not in evidence. One of the most difficult aspects of becoming a teacher is how to motivate

your student. It is important to motivate your student, students who are not motivated will not

learn effectively.

3. Students-teacher deal with their struggle, applying strategies and own skill. Applying essential

skill that help student-teachers to overcome their struggle. There are many personality traits that

are required to be an effective teacher. The role that a teacher provides for the students is very

important to the advancement of general knowledge and higher learning. An effective teacher has

the power to shape and mold the lives of young children. They have knowledge of their subject;

are very organized and clear with their students; and they show great warmth and enthusiasm.

Conclusion

The following are the conclusion obtained by the researchers from the findings of the

probe:

1. In student-teaching it aims to help the student-teachers to be able to understand his/her

role in the larger whole of profession. Providing student-teachers with authentic hands-

on experience. It helps them to develop their skills and start collecting experiences to

enrich their professional wisdom. Therefore student-teaching is important because it

serve it as training ground for a real world of work.

2. The main reason that people worry about classroom management issues is that they lack

experience handling a wide range of behavioral issues. However, there are some things

that you can do to prevent problems, such as lay down the rules, be consistent, and learn

names early on in the student teaching experience. . Be a future teacher than can light

that student who appeared unmotivated. A teacher that can make learning fun and

inspire them to reach their full potential. All teachers should understand that they are not

an island unto themselves.

3. From the findings of this study, it can be concluded that student teachers in schools

faced many struggle and they employed a number of strategies to overcome the

struggles. They used essentials skill in teaching to help them teach well and handling

their students. And lastly Critic Teacher have a big role in student teaching they are the

one who help student-teacher and they are also the one who guide, correct and train the

student-teaching.

Recommendations

The researchers recommended the following;

 The researchers recommend to the students to cooperate to their student teacher, respect

and treat them like your adviser. Do not treat them as one of students even though she/he

is student itself. Treat them With respectful because they are older and they are practicing

to become a future professional teacher.

 For the future student student-teacher start preparing early for your student teaching. You

can prepare for your first day of student teaching months or even years before it happens.

This is because all of your teacher training leads up to your student teaching experience.

 For the future researchers, it was recommended for additional number of participant to

gather more experiences that can be added to determined lived experiences of student-

teachers. It also recommended that the scope and delimitation and locale of the study as

well of the future study, will be changed and expanded more, enable for the future

researchers to explore and find more lived experiences of student-teachers.

 A follow-up study of the lived experience of mentors could be developed which would

strengthen, counter, or illuminate new information relative to themes that have emerged

from this study.

 It was also recommended to have a teacher education input during teaching practice

should include aspects as stress management and coping mechanism for student teachers
