ACTIVITIES  Students’ prior knowledge has been activated in this lesson with a

 They start the lesson verbally or with a series of statements on the


whiteboard and each of them has to tell whether they think each statement
is True or False using their cards.

ii. LESSON DEVELOPMENT  Students complete the mind map of an author by refering the novel.

 They use the ‘Ideas Focus’, second question, as small-group discussion


activities (groups of 3 or 4 students). Before the discussions start, they
need to understand the novel chapter by chapter.

 Teacher discuss with the class chapter 1-3 with the appropriate phrases
and expressions to use in the discussion.

iii. POST-LESSON  Students review their learning in this lesson by writing down what was the
most important thing they learned in the lesson.

 In Activity D they must write sentences on their own using the key
words in this activity.

 They have to write sentences for ‘liquid’ and ‘disease’ only(the other
words are above B1 level). they have to check each other’s sentences
and give feedback on spelling and language accuracy.

iii. POST-LESSON  Students have to identify with their talk partner(s) at least one new word or
expression that they have learned in relation to the topic. Collect and share
words/expressions as a whole class.

ACTIVITIES  Students need to keep their textbooks closed. Write the words in red in
i. PRE-LESSON the ‘Word Focus’ on p.18 of the Student’s Book on the board.

 They to discuss with their talk partner the meaning of each word. Then
look at these same words in red in the text and to check meaning by
looking carefully at the sentence each word is found in.

 Then, they have to read the ‘Word Focus’ box and compare their
definitions with those given.

ii. LESSON DEVELOPMENT  Students discuss in small groups. When they are ready, collect and share
responses to the discussions as a whole class. Teacher draw attention to
food related vocabulary that is used by pupils.

 They express feelings such as happiness, sadness, surprise, or interest.

iii. POST-LESSON  Students have to be in small groups and tell each other about what they
had for dinner last night.
