HOD’s Message

Dr. B.V. Sangvikar

Professor & Head of Department
Savitribai Phule Pune University
As it has been rightly stated in the Shlokas, there is no letter which is of no value and cannot
be used in divine poems, no root so useless that it cannot be used in medicine. Likewise, there
is no worthless person; the only problem is the scarcity of one who knows how to use them.
One of the emerging global challenges we face today is the growing shortage of leaders. Over
the next ten years, the number of hands leaving the workforce will be significantly higher than
the new ones joining. A similar trend is seen in all the major global economies and this will
have a large impact on their managerial and executive ranks. Our teaching mission at PUMBA
is to cultivate leaders that can fill this gap, but we strive to go beyond this. We build leaders
who are truly committed and driven to make a difference. PUMBA’s MBA++ programme, one
of its kind in the country, has rolled out seven batches and the feedback we have received
from the corporate world is encouraging. The MBA++ programme is designed to cater to
today’s ever-changing market needs of managerial skills. We also welcome into our batches,
Army Officers who are in the noblest profession of ensuring the nation’s security and integrity.
They bring in a maturity to the batch with their vast experience of over 22 years of serving
their country. This helps in developing the temperament and vision of future managers. Their
conduct, the epitome of perfection, continuously inspires the students and will continue to
do so in the future. With this, I bless the torch-bearers of tomorrow to light the world for
generations to come. I extend a very warm welcome to you to PUMBA’s Campus Recruitment
Programme 2015-16.

“The secret of successful management is to keep the five guys who hate you from the
four guys who haven’t made up their minds” The past decade has seen the globalization

are well equipped with the necessary management knowledge and expertise to take on the
challenges posed by the Industry. The MBA++ program at PUMBA helps the students develop
interpersonal and networking skills adaptable to a work setting that is highly demanding.
The self-learning environment at PUMBA offers students the opportunity to seek out, identify
and learn from the key issues observed in the business world. This course provides the level
of practicality and relevance that companies and corporates appreciate. The wholesome
development of the students to meet the requirements of tomorrow is our top-most priority.
