Significance of the Study

The purpose of this study is to better understand the safety of pedestrians and to improve traffic flow in
certain areas here in Baguio City where building or creating an underpass that which allow the pedestrians
can walk freely and safely while drivers/motorist can move straight forward smoothly without any chance
of hitting the walkers since their lane is separated. Further, the findings of this study will serve as a tool to
verify whether there is a need for an underpass for pedestrians and to allows us to determine the factors
affecting the flow of the traffic that causes delay during peak hours and also to improve the safety of
everyone especially the pedestrians whose vulnerable during the said time because of the behavior of the
drivers. In addition, a clear and thorough investigation using volume count of pedestrians and vehicles
will help us to support this study. Moreover, the result of this study would benefit pedestrians and
motorists in terms of their safety and also to improve traffic flow.
