● Sports Person of the Year awards at the FICCI India Sports Awards 2019. Indian women’s hockey 
team captain Rani Rampal and ace pistol shooter Saurabh Chaudhary. 
● Indian Personality of the Year Award (Sports) at the Indo Arab Leaders Summit & Awards 2019 
→ Bajrang Punia. 
● BCCI’s CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2019 - Krishnamachari Srikkanth & 
Anjum Chopra. 
● Golden Target award by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) : Elavenil Valarivan, 
Saurabh Chaudhary and Divyansh Singh Panwar. 
● Barcelona football player Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d’Or awards 2019. This is his 6th title. 
In the female category also known as Ballon d’Or Féminin, Megan Rapinoe from USA has won 
the award.  
● Ekalabya Award for the year 2019 - International weightlifter Jhilli Dalabehera. 
● 17th winner of the Golden Foot award → Luka Modric.  
● Christopher Martin-Jenkins Spirit of Cricket award for the year 2019 - The national cricket team 
of New Zealand.  
● England cricketer Ben Stokes has been voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2019. 
● World Athlete of the Year awards → Eliud Kipchoge, the first man to run a marathon in less 
than two hours, and 400 metres hurdles world champion Dalilah Muhammad.  
 
Science and Technology : 
● Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty’s fitness app “Shilpa Shetty App” has been awarded Google Play’s 
Best Apps of 2019. 
● India’s Ravi Prakash has won the BRICS-Young Innovator Prize at 4th BRICS -Young Scientist 
Forum’s Conclave. For inventing an a ordable indigenous milk chilling unit for smaller and 
marginal rural dairy farmers. 
● The Gurugram-based startup Blue Sky Analytics has created an application called ‘Zuri’ that 
won the Copernicus Masters Award also called Space Oscars, under the Social Entrepreneurship 
category.  
 
Arts and Culture : 
● National Florence Nightingale award 2019 posthumously → Lini Sajeesh. 
● Acclaimed Indian sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has been conferred the Italian Golden Sand Art

● Kayakalp Awards:- 
a. Under the Central Government Hospitals A category, the first prize of Rs 3 crore was 
given to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi. 
b. In the Group B category, the winner was VBCH, Silvassa, which bagged Rs 2 crore. 
● Kamareddy district of Telangana has secured the United Nations International Children's 
Education Fund (Unicef)-2019 Award.  
● World Habitat Award' for Jaga Mission - Odisha. 
● National Award of Excellence for rehabilitation of persons with disabilities → Uttar Pradesh. 
● Best Emerging Green Tourist Destination Award conferred by Travel & Leisure magazine -

● Asian Film Festival Barcelona :- 
a. Manoj Bajpayee starrer critically acclaimed movie Bhonsle has bagged two prestigious 
awards at the Asian Film Festival Barcelona. 
b. Directed by Devashish Makhija, the movie has won Best Screenplay and Best Director 
awards at the festival. 
● Documentary on Real Kashmir FC bags ‘BAFTA Scotland’ Awards 2019. 
● Asian Academy Creative Awards :-   
a. "Gully Boy" won the best film from India award in the regional finals at the Asian 
Academy Creative Awards ceremony. 
b. Netflix series “Delhi Crime” has won in a number of categories at the Asian Academy 
Creative Awards. Delhi Crime won for Best Actress, Best Direction, Best Drama Series, 
Best Editing and Best Original Programme. 
● People's Icon Award at the 2019 People's Choice Awards → Jennifer Aniston.

● 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) Winners:- 
a. Particles, the French-Swiss film directed by Blaise Harrison won the Golden Peacock 
Award.  
b. ‘Best Director Award’ was conferred to Lijo Jose Pellissery for his Malayalam film 
‘Jallikattu’. 
c. The Best Actor (Male) Award went to Seu Jorge for his role in Marighella.  
d. Best Actor (Female) Award went to Usha Jadhav for her role in a Marathi crime film, Mai
