Oak Ridges Moraine

Formation:
1. The ORM formed in southern Ontario during the last ice age over thousands of years
ago. The ice sheets came and went in the area.
2. 13 000 years ago: As the glaciers began to retreat the ice formed two lobes and formed
a distinct crack in ORM.
3. 13 000 years ago: The crack was filled up by 2 materials: Sediment and Water. Through
flood channels the sediments went through the flood channels in the. Very quickly filled
with water. Lots of till 100 meters and the water was 1000 meter.
4. 11 000 years ago:
5. 9 000 years ago: The ice sheets had retreated far enough so the plants had returned to
the area. The artic environment was becoming to change.
