The student:

• in his artistic research, starts from a personal questioning and point of view, both in the field of thematics and visual language, as in the field of
specific plastic processing.
• can analyse and evaluate his work; makes connections between his individual works.
• can document (1) the sources that inspired him in his creative process and (2) the various stages of development of his creative process.
• has insight into the historical and current visual/audiovisual art, is able to follow and interpret the evolutions within the artistic field, and position

Course content

The master programme in Visual Arts must be regarded as a trajectory that highlights the student's personal artistic development. The master
programme is the completion of a synthesis of the growth that was achieved in the bachelor programme. The pedagogical approach differs
significantly from that of the bachelors. In the masters, the student’s project is central: concept development, critical reflection, methodical research,
personal signature, authenticity and innovation are the key building blocks in this process.

The artistic, theoretical and pedagogical framework maximally support this. In the true sense of the word, the master programme is a laboratory
where dialogue and dynamics between students, lecturers and guest lecturers exist. Discourse is pursued between all parties involved. To enable and
support this process, the master programme plays a facilitating role. As much as possible, attempts are made to provide technical and material
support, and provide the student with an individual space for work and reflection.

The master project, both in terms of form and content, must reply to a specific personal research question. The student will therefore act largely
autonomously: from the development of a research question and the elaboration of ideas, to the practical organisation and critical reflection, to the
actual presentation and substantive argumentation towards those who are to evaluate the process.

The student may opt for disciplinary research, but may also develop an interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary trajectory.

• Permanent assessment by the complete team of lecturers of the studio.

• End-year jury at the end of the second semester.

• The final result is the aggregation of the results obtained during the permanent assessment (20%) and the end-year jury (80%).
