General Information
1. Where is this school located? How long would it take you to get there from Garnet Valley? How
do you feel about this distance?
This school is located in Swarthmore Pennsylvania, and it will take me a half hour or less to get there
from garnet valley. It is a bit too close for my tastes; however, this will allow me to go into media or
philadelphia whenever I want.

2. How many undergraduate students attend this school? How many graduate students?
There is a total enrollment of 1559 undergraduate students at Swarthmore, and they have no
graduate students.

3. List three sports, clubs, and/or organizations that the school offers that interest you. Consider
Greek life (fraternities/ sororities), campus ministry, study abroad opportunities, community service
organizations, etc.
They have student Government, ​Aja, a club which promotes the wellbeing of blackwomen, femmes,
and non binary people, An analog photography club and image-based publication, Animal allies, Bird
club, a fencing club, as well as many other music, arts, and humanities clubs.

4. What kind of internships are available to students of this school?


Try to find the answer to this question for your prospective major.
Because there are no graduate students, any of the research opportunities are open to
undergraduates. They also have multiple resources on how to find good internships or jobs based off
any specific major.

5. What is the campus setting (urban, suburban, rural, etc.)? What kinds of off-campus experiences
are available to students at this school?
The swarthmore campus is in a suburban area, and it sits on an arboretum. The campus is also about
10 minutes away from media, which allows students to go and enjoy good food, and shop in the
markets. The school also has bus passes between swarthmore, haverford, and bryn mawr. They will
also pay for train tickets into Philadelphia.

6. What are three majors that this school offers that you would like to consider?
Three majors that I would be interested in studying at swarthmore are english literature, gender and
sexuality studies, or comparative literature. They also allow students to design their own major.

7. What is this school’s job placement rate for graduating students?


The school’s placement rates for graduating students is 70%.

8. When is the application deadline?
The application deadline is January 1st, and the early decision deadline is November 15th.

9. Does this school accept the common application?


Swarthmore accepts the Common Application, the Coalition Application, and the QuestBridge
Application.

10. What are the SAT/ACT requirements for this school?


The average ACT score composite at Swarthmore is a 32, and the average SAT score is a 1410 at
least. However, they are test optional now.

11. What are the GPA/Class Rank requirements for this school?
Swarthmore requires a 4.09 GPA, making students be the very top of their class.

12. What other admissions requirements are there? SAT 2, letters of recommendation, personal
statement, interview, audition, etc.?
Swarthmore does not track interest, but it is recommended to visit campus and have an in person
interview. A letter of recommendation is also required.

13. Is this school “Safety” “Reach” or “Middle of the Road” for you?
This is a reach school for me, as Swarthmore only accepts 9% of all applicants.

14. Where is the Health Center and/or Counseling Center located and what are the hours? How do
you make an appointment at the Counseling Center?
The swarthmore health center is located at Worth Health Center Swarthmore College 500, College
Avenue, Swarthmore, PA 19081 and the hours are ​Mon., Tues. and Thurs. & Fri. 9:00 am - 5 pm, and
Wednesday 9:00 am - 8:00 pm.

15. What are the hours for the Writing Center? Do you need an appointment or can you just drop in?
The hours for the writing center are Sundays 7:00pm- 11:30pm, Mondays 3:00pm-5:30pm, and
7:00pm - 11:30pm, Tuesdays 7:00pm - 11:30pm, Wednesdays 3:00pm-5:30pm, and 7:00pm -
11:00pm, Thursdays 3:00pm-5:30pm, and 7:00pm - 11:00pm. You can schedule an appointment
with the Writing Center online, by phone, or simply drop in.

16. What academic support/curricular accommodations can students with special learning needs
receive?
The Student​ Disability Service coordinates accommodations for students with learning disabilities,
visual and hearing impairments, chronic medical conditions, traumatic brain injury (TBI), Attention
Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorder (ADHD), psychological disabilities, and orthopedic/mobility disorders.
They provide accommodation letters, testing accommodations, and confidentiality.
