Gender inequality
For you to find someone who did not believe that equality between sexes was a critical objective
then you would be hard pressed. Here in the United States, there is a lot of work to do prior to
achieving this objective. According to Anne Marie slaughter, asked whether we are using the
correct platform when trying to explain what equality is all about. In her Ted talk of January
2013, Marie explained what equality means. She also explained the ways in which the United
States is handling the issue in the wrong way. Although equality in the workplace is considered
to be very important Marie argued that this is only about half of the conversation. Marie claimed
that in order for a full gender equality to be achieved there is the need for the breadwinners and
caregivers to be valued in an equivalent manner. She suggested that real equality does not mean
using male terms to value women but rather it means that a much wide range of equally
respected choices for both women and men should be created. In her talk, she made it clear that
the family and work problems are not separate issues divided by gender. According to her, it
does not mean that if family come first work follows it means that in life both come together.
Women should be aware that their place is not only found at home. They should open up other
choices as well as opportunities in their life. On the contrary, the mentality that men are the
