GUEST ARTIST RECITAL: Concordia Dawn – Christopher Preston Thompson, Director
Fortuna Antiqua et Ultra
The Goddess of Fortune takes center stage in Fortuna Antiqua et Ultra, a concert presented by Concordia
Dawn, ensemble for Medieval music. Manipulating every aspect of life and love, Fortuna has provided
poet and composer alike with subject matter for centuries, and this concert highlights the deity’s
paramount role in the goings-on of humanity. With voice, harp, and vielle, the ensemble will showcase a
range of musical texture from delicate and intimate to sumptuous and intricate, all exhibiting the variety
and intrigue of Medieval musical culture.

LATIN MUSIC and JAZZ FESTIVAL at LEHMAN COLLEGE
Allan Molnar, Executive Producer and Artistic Director
This annual event provides performance and learning opportunities for talented young musicians studying music
in New York City and surrounding area schools. The Pacheco Festival is committed to developing a world-wide
audience via live Internet streaming and other forms of broadcast media. More than 250 student musicians
perform at this festival each year.

Lehman College will perform in a variety of genres including Jazz, Latin-Jazz, and Hip Hop. Special
musical guests will also be featured.

Nowell: Seasonal Music from the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
Students perform seasonal works from traditional Gregorian chant for Christmas Day to Renaissance

Both of these ensembles are made up of versatile student musicians enrolled at Lehman. The Jazz
Ensemble will perform in a variety of genres including Jazz, Latin-Jazz, and Hip Hop. The Guitar
Ensemble will perform contemporary arrangements drawing upon the rich history of the guitar and its use
in Blues, Jazz, Pop, and Rock.

Honoring African American Composers
Da Capo Chamber Players explore the vibrancy and virtuosity of African-American composers with a
program that includes recent works by David Sanford, Jeff Scott, Kenneth Amis, Jonathan Bailey Holland
and Carman Moore.

Classical guitarist Francisco Roldan, bassist Lee Marvin and electric guitarist Robert Windbiel, will

FACULTY RECITAL: ALLAN MOLNAR, PERCUSSION AND MULTIMEDIA
A solo recital of original and standard compositions, arranged for a variety of mallet percussion and other
instruments (vibraphone, marimba, MalletKAT, piano, bass, drums, percussion) in a combination of Jazz,
Latin, and Electronic Music styles. Mr. Molnar’s innovative integration of music performance with
multimedia is cutting-edge, unique and exciting.

LEHMAN PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE with special guests RIAM PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE

Works for percussion ensemble, including a joint performance with students from the Royal Irish
Academy of Music in Dublin. This year marks the 20th annual collaboration between the RIAM and
CUNY. (Please note, this date is tentative. Exact scheduling of guest musicians from RIAM was not

Guest artists Nicholas Leichter, Marguerite Hemmings, and Ayodamola Tanimowo Okunseinde share
their artistic processes and direct Lehman students in three short works. The Dance in Dialog series aims to
present work that starts conversations about dance. An open Q&A with the directors, choreographers, and
performers will follow each performance.

A daring musical journey across boundaries of place, identity and theatrical convention. This is the story
of a young bohemian who charts a course for “the real” through sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll, from black
middle-class America to Amsterdam, Berlin and beyond on a journey towards personal and artistic
authenticity.
