Important point

 Post Harvest Loss of Sector 22- 25 % should reduce to 10%.


 The sector provides livelihood support to about 160 lakh people at the primary level.
 The annual average growth rate in the Fisheries sector has been over 7% over the last
few years.

Blue Revolution Scheme =


 Restructured the scheme by merging all the ongoing schemes under an umbrella of
Blue Revolution.
 The restructured scheme provides focussed development and management of
fisheries, covering inland
 Fisheries, aquaculture, marine fisheries including deep sea fishing, Mari culture.
 Outlay = 3000 Crore

Important Points Related to funds

 Government of India during 2018-19 created dedicated fund namely Fisheries and
Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) with a corpus size of
`7522.48 Crore.
 FIDF aims to achieve a sustainable growth of 8-9 per cent.
 Govt. of India, in 1959 constituted a committee on “Fisheries Education”, for
assessing the manpower requirement and to suggest measures for providing trained
manpower for boosting the fishery developmental activities.
