Windows Home and Windows RT are not supported.

We recommend that you do not run Solid Edge on Server operating systems.

Solid Edge stops certifying new releases against an operating system shortly after Microsoft drops mainstream
support for it. Solid Edge 2019 will not install on Windows Vista or Windows XP. Microsoft dropped mainstream
support for Windows 7 in January 2015. Microsoft dropped mainstream support for Windows 8.1 in January
2018. Solid Edge 2019 continues to install on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. However, if there is a problem
specific to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, we cannot guarantee that a fix can be provided if support is required from
Microsoft.
Solid Edge data management does not support DFS Namespaces because it is not supported by Windows
Search. DFS Replication is supported by Windows Search, but has not been tested with Solid Edge data
management. Any problems specific to this configuration will not be addressed.
Solid Edge 2020 is supported on the Microsoft Surface Book and the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 or 4 running
Windows 8.1 Professional or Windows 10.

Internet Explorer is not required to be the default browser. Solid Edge does not support the Windows 10 browser,
Microsoft Edge.

Solid Edge uses Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5. Solid Edge setup.exe automatically installs the Microsoft .NET
4.5 Framework, if it does not exist on the machine.

The msiexec utility, commonly used for silent installation, will not install or update the .NET 4.5 Framework. This
will need to be done manually. Your machine needs to be connected to the internet to install .NET Framework.

The Siemens PLM License Server (SPLM) replaces Solid Edge License Manager in Solid Edge 2020. The
license server can be any computer on your network that meets the criteria defined in the guide, Installing
Siemens PLM License Server (SPLM_Licensing_Install.pdf) accessible from the Solid Edge installation media.
