With the globalization and integration of economics, the movement of capital and various economic factors
become frequent; the competitions for economic resources between countries and regions are also increasingly
fierce. At present, more and more interest groups join into the game, the diversification of their approach and
policies make the competitions incandesce. Faced with this situation, the traditional theory of competition has
been unable to meet the capital needs of the region, which calls for a new theoretical framework, that is
Regional Investment Marketing-a combination of marketing 4Ps (Product, Price, Place, Promotion) strategies.
Compared with the practice in this field in the China mainland, the theoretical research has lagged behind.
Although some scholars have been keenly felt its importance, and have done some pioneering work in this area,
much of this Regional Marketing Theory remains in the junior level. The theory lacking of research system could
hardly explain some particular region problems, let alone good practice guiding. That is the reason why we do
the research based on the perspective of the academic ideas history. The paper includs five main sections: The
first part is the overall study of literature. The author builds "the theoretical framework of regional investment
marketing" by refining the representation of scholars' view and defines the concept of "regional investment
marketing" based on the literature published between the year 1998 and 2007.The second part is the research
on "regional investment environment"and "regional investment soft environment" which can be looked as the
regional marketing "products".The third part discusses the "regional business costs" as the regional marketing
"price".The fourth part of the paper introduced the "industrial chain and industrial clusters investment", which
stand by the regional marketing "distribution channels" or "promotion".The author builds a research framework
for the regional investment marketing theory in the fifth part. And that is the end of the
