Dear Minister,

I am writing this letter to express my opinion on the production of Guyana’s first carnival. It's presented
during the Independence Period which is inspiring.

I visited many workshops where necessary props were being prepared. It cannot be compared to
previous costumes and floats from carnivals in other countries. To be honest there was a wide variety of
masquerade costumes that grasp my attention. This is because it has been known to the public that one
masquerade costume cost approximately one million dollars. For me, this means Guyana must be a
fortunate country to be able to afford such expensive items. This not only reflects Guyana’s rich culture
but its economic status as well. In order words, Guyana is moving forward.

Since carnivals increase tourism its effect on Guyana’s economic status increases due to numerous
benefits. The first advantage is ample revenue which supports the country. This develops infrastructure
which improves the enhances the countries natural beauty and attracts more tourists. This ultimately
results in a sustainable source of revenue. The second involves the possibility of investors or business
opportunities thus more jobs are produced for the citizens.

I must acknowledge the Ministry of Culture for their decision to organize Guyana’s first carnival and I
sincerely hope it is a success. This is the best way for Guyana to showcase its diversity. Please keep up
the good work.

Yours Respectfully
