Page 30f4Bursting disc holder type IG
The IG bursting disc holder has been designed for REMBE® bursting discs with 30° clamping
seat.(e.g. BT, BT-ODV etc.) and consists of an inlet and outlet part with pre-mounting
screws. The holder can be reused after the bursting disc has responded,
Installation takes place, as illustrated below, between flanges. This series is available for
flanges according to DIN or ANSI (s. table overleaf). The sealing surfaces and dimensions
confirm with all current standards, or can be modified on request.
The holder unit serves to en-
‘sure sufficient clamping of the
bursting disc between the
flanges.
‘The disc is held and sealed by
the 30° clamping seat which
also ensures a proper fitting.
A suitable gasket must be pro-
vided above and below the
holder to the companion
flanges.
flow
Reversed installation can be
prevented by means of addi-
tional constructive methods
ry (e.g. sealing surfaces with
v groove and tongue or bolts).
Direction
‘Arrows on the holder clearly
mark the direction of flow. Fi
ting the bursting disc in the pipe
locally is considerably simplified
by using the holder.
Assufficient distance between the flanges must be en-
sured. For larger nominal sizes, the dome of the bursting disc can project beyond the holder
under certain conditions
(the manufacturer should be consulted if necessary). IG holders are available in carbon steel,
stainless steel, Titanium, Nickel, Hastelloy, Inconel or other special materials.
| the bursting disc is positioned before or after a second safety device (e.g. safety valve), the
space between these two units must be monitored. For this purpose, the outlet section can
be provided with a tapped hole into which, excess flow valve units with pressure gauge,
pressure monitors or similar can be screwed.

ihAulnahines met t-S)Signalling membranes SB / SB-S
Signalling membranes serve of monitoring in order to quickly signal the response or leakages of e.g
upstream bursting discs, safety valves, gate valves etc. The flat and compact design allows an easy
mounting directly between DIN or ANSI flanges. No additional gasket is necessary, because the
gasket is already part of the signalling membrane. The SB is a simple means of retrofiting a
signalling unit.
Signalling unit
It is possible to signal the response of a protective device. With REMBE® bursting discs this can
take place in many cases by directly fitting an integrated signalling unit. If itis not possible for design
reasons, a downstream signalling membrane is used. In principle a distinction is made between two
types of signalling membranes with respect to their application and design.
a) type SB - without relief bore
The response pressure of the upstream safety device in case of leakage can increase by the
response pressure of the SB. This must be taken into account by the system designer.
b) type SB-S - with relief bore
The space between safely device and signalling membrane can be ventilated through the relief bore
in the membrane. Only in case of a dynamic pressure change, e.g. as a result of the response of the
upstream protective unit, is the whole cross-section is released.

‘The REMBE® signalling membrane is maintenance-free. If it responds an elecirical signal is
produced which can be used for remote alarm purposes or for automatic intervention in the process
control sequence. The SB can be manufactured with minimum response pressure, so that even a
slight leakage can be detected. The use of this bursting disc is recommended particularly for
valuable or polluting media.

ED.s8-98048-3 page 2 of 2Triple Section Bursting Discs BT-ODV
also BT-OD, BT-ODU, BT-RODV etc.
Triple section bursting discs of type "BT-ODV" are mainly used for applications with low or medium
burst pressures. The burst pressure is determined by the burst element with integrated breaking
points and the sealing part. Breaking points are made by a CNC controlled laser micro cutting ma-
chine so that the highest precision at the required pressure is guaranteed.
BT-ODV bursting discs are applied to working pressures up to 80% of the specified burst pressure.
Especially on corrosive media the sealing part (for low or medium burst pressures Teflon is stan-
dard) insulates the bursting membrane from the process.
The types which are marked with a "V" (e.g. BT-ODV, BT-RODV) are manufactured with an inte-
grated vacuum support and therefore suitable for changing working pressures from vacuum to over-
pressure,
BT-ODV bursting discs can be supplied with an integrated signalling unit which indicates the re-
sponse of the bursting disc. In this case, the type designation is supplemented with "SK" (e.g. BT-
SKODV, BT-SKODU). For small sizes and low pressures, as well as for subsequent installations
signalling bursting discs are available.
‘Standard materials are Stainless Steel, Nickel, Monel and Inconel. Furthermore Hastelloy, Titanium,
Tantalum are available and can immediately be delivered from stock.

Higher working temperature lead to decrease in burstpressure, lower temperatures lead to
increase in burstpressure. Precision of bursting and life time of bursting disc devices de-
pend on the clamping. In order to guarantee the function, bursting discs are installed with
holders (s. separate data sheets) maintaining a tight sealing.
