    REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

    The study aims to assess the impact of rising prices of rice and fuel on poverty in
    Minglanilla, Cebu.

    RELATED LITERATURE

    Rice prices showed no signs of declining as it continued to hit a new high in August despite
    efforts by the government to restrain the acceleration of food prices.

    Prices of rice continued to be on the downward trend with consumers saving more but farmers
    earning less following the influx of imported rice.

    The uncontrolled price increase of rice forced us to rebuild and improve storage facilities which
    will enable us to store for future purposes

    The world rice market is going through a period of intense policy change and price instability.
    This, in turn, has caused hardship for farmers producing for export as well as for importers
    dependent on external sources for their supply of staple food.

    The rice price has increased significantly over the past year, and there is much
    discussion as to why this happened. A brief review of the rice market concepts: The
    farmer sells paddy to whoever buys it and this ends up at the rice millers.

    THIS STUDY FOCUSES ON THE POSSBLE IMPACT OF RISING RICE PRICES TO THE PROFIT

    OF VENDORS ESPECIALLY ON THE PUBLIC MARKET OF MINGLANILLA CEBU. HOW CAN
