peace is a virtue of civilization, war is its crime

principal, respected teachers and my fellow students

goodmorning i’m aisha and i’m from ig2. the topic on which i’ll be speaking is peace is a
virtue of civilization

this statement in particular highlights the undeniable need for peace in our lives,
whether it be within ourselves , or in the global environment we live in, war, on the other
hand , is the inhumane way us humans deal with conflicts.
it’s like nawaz sharif fleeing to england to avoid jail time but much worse, no offence to
anyone who supports him.

peace is a comprehensive word, its definition varies person to person based off their
own opinions and perspectives. Putting it into simple words; peace is the concept of
harmony , in the absence of hostility and violence. countries like Syria or Afghanistan
crave peace, take our own country into consideration, Kashmir, the undisputed territory,
where peace has been an unknown concept since the partition in 1947, is this not a
clear indication that the human race can not excel without peace , so How ironic is it
that we have war for peace? when war contradicts the concept of peace completely?
the highly admired malala yousafzai said “ if you want to end war then instead of
sending guns send books , instead of sending tanks send pens and instead of sending
soldiers send teachers “
is this not a clear indication that peace is a virtue of civilization?
how different would pakistan’s prosperity be if we didn’t have nuclear power? how many
wars would have broken out? yes, our military advancement has prevented many wars
so why is it that countries like Iceland, Panama and The Vatican choose not to have its
own Armed force? and why did costa rica put an end to its Armed forces after its
disastrous civil war in 1948, this dear audience , is due to the fact that peace is a virtue
of civilization.
these countries surely choose peace over chaos, another key thing to remember is the
disastrous effect waging wars has.
i’d like to conclude my speech with a quote from the least expected person, Donald
trump himself : “ i would rather take a political risk in pursuit of peace than risk peace in
pursuit of politics”
for those who listened , i hope my words positively impact your perspectives
