ROOT WORD- is the base of the Word or the word on its

own.

For example: agree, wrap, friend, polite, etc.

PREFIX- a group of letters put before a word to give it a

different or additional meaning.

For example: correct------ incorrect / wrap------- unwrap/

honest-------------- dishonest.

o Common prefixes : un-, multi-, over-, mis-, super-

, dis-, re-, sub-, in-, non-, anti-,bi-, im-.

SUFFIX - A group of letters that added at the end of a word

changes its meaning.

For example: color------colorless / hope----- hopeful /

misery------- miserable.

o Common suffixes : -ish, -er, -est, -less, -ize/ise, -

able, -ible, -al, -ful, -ic, -ing, -ment, --ness, -ty, -
iant, -logy, -ure, -sion.
