Who is better to ask about the situation in china than an actual Chinese citizen?
Zoe, 15 years old
Lives in shanghai, china
Politics is not a popular topic in her school
She heard about the new social credit system but it doesn’t bother her.
Certain apps cannot be used in china and believes that the government doesn’t
want them to know certain things
But there is access to these apps through apps like VPN
Thinks it is stupid that the government restrict them from using foreign apps
But she got used to it and doesn’t care anymore because china has its own apps,
where she has access to all the information like WeChat. Twitter and Facebook are
not the main communication apps there
It is hard sometimes because she has to do academic reports (because she is in an
international school)
She finds media control alright and although the government policies sometimes
bother her, whenever it comes to a conflict between china and other countries she
supports hers
Her friends complain about the government's policies a lot
Never heard of someone who got in jail or punished because he is against the
government
Censorship

the government has blocked more than 60 websites, 48 of which are online news
websites
Blocked sites are: websites of opposition satellite channels that broadcast from
outside Egypt, newspapers, online publishing platforms, websites of political and
youth groups, VPN services, and online proxy websites.
The government accuses those websites of supporting terrorism and extremism and
spreading fake news.
The censorship was enforced by all internet service providers in Egypt, including TE
Data, Orange, Etisala t and Vodafone.
Censorship in China
Censorship in China is implemented by the PRC's ruling party, the Communist Party
of China (CPC).
The government censors content for mainly political reasons, but also to maintain its
control over the citizens.
The Chinese government says that it has the legal right to control the internet's
content within their territory and that their censorship rules do not infringe on the
citizen's right to free speech.
The government maintains censorship over all media capable like television, print
media, radio, film, theater, text messaging, instant messaging, video games,
literature, and the Internet.
