TASK DESCRIPTION
It is certain that Globalisation has transformed the world we live in. In this 1200-word case study,
you will choose a demanding adaptive challenge facing your region, nation or community that is a
consequence of Globalisation. As part of your work, you will explain how this challenge can be
tackled by applying the Adaptive Challenge Approach.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
 Source, select and organise information cohesively according to academic conventions;

 Develop knowledge about theoretical perspectives on Globalisation processes.

 Understanding some of the negative effects Globalisation has created upon individuals,
communities;

 Explore, analyse and evaluate variations in the role and effect of Globalisation processes upon
individuals, communities and nations;

 Investigate and report on the role and influence of social movements across the world with
reference to strategies and approaches used to negotiate contemporary issues associated with
Globalisation

BRIEF

Task
In this 1200-word assignment, you will discuss a demanding Adaptive Challenge facing your
region, nation or community that is a result of Globalisation. You must engage with how the
processes and the dynamics of globalization have driven change and created hurdles that
society must solve. As part of your discussion, you will explain how the Adaptive Challenge
Approach to solving problems can be used to address the challenge. It is important that you
discuss the need for Crossing Boundaries and collaboration between different spheres of
society will work in order to address it. You will then, explain the role technology can have in
solving this problem. Think about how communications, engineering, medical or any other
technology could be used to ease the problem and further the Adaptive Challenge Approach.

Your assignment should address the following questions:

1. How did the challenge emerge?


2. How is this challenge a result of Globalisation?
3. What has been done to solve the problem?
4. Why will the Adaptive Challenge Approach be useful to solve the problem?
5. What boundaries need to be crossed in order to address the challenge?
6. What values need to be shifted?
7. What role could technology play in fixing the problem?

Requirements

• 1200 words
• Your case study should make use of a minimum of 3 new sources (as well as your
Course Book and other course readings)
• Submit a hard copy to your tutor in week 12, at the end of your
Workshop.
• Include a cover page with your hard copy
• Submit a soft copy to Turnitin by the end of your Workshop, using the link on UTS Online
under the Assignments Folder.
• Use 11 or 12 point Arial, Times New Roman or Comic Sans font
• Use 1.5 line spacing and at least 3cm page margins
• Use Harvard UTS referencing.

Aim to keep your Turnitin score under 20% to avoid a penalty. Make sure to paraphrase and
use in-text citations when needed.
