significance. After the gathered data were statistically analyzed and interpreted, the

study revealed the following findings:

The researchers found out from the data gathered that most of the respondents

are females. Based from the responses it was revealed that majority of the respondents

are aged thirty-two years old and above with a percentage of 79.16%. Most of their

educational attainment is on the secondary level with 44.17%, and 78.33% of them are

already married.

As the researchers analyzed and interpret the data, it was found out that most of

the respondent’s residency in Sumo-sumo, Tago range from 11 to 30 years and above

with a percentage of 65.88%. It was further found out that the respondent’s income per

production ranges from two hundred to four hundred pesos with a percentage of 50.

83%. The gathered data also found out that the income per day of the respondents

range from one hundred fifty to two hundred pesos with 73.33%, the highest. The

answers of the interviewees revealed that most of the respondents in Barangay Sumo-

sumo, Tago, Surigaodel Sur have attended trainings and seminars. The local

government livelihood project on coir based and coco net products was agreed by the

respondents with 3.91%.

The farmers have affirmed that they do not have many problems towards the

production of coco net. The data further revealed that the government gives subsidy to

the equipment/tools that are used in the production. Such equipment that were provided

are the saving machine, ag-agan, decorticating machine, twining machine, organic

fertilizers and shovel. Ten to twenty tons of coco husks per month are used quarterly,

and one to two hundred tons or more yearly sixty percent of the respondents strongly

agree as to their willingness to producing coco net. Producers from Sumo-sumo and

Tagindeco have produced coco net. However, TAGINDECO stopped its production due

to the lack of manpower. Sumo-sumo, on the other hand, is a baby institution in

producing coco net has sustained its production since most of the works are coconut

farmers.

Fifteen workers in Sumo-sumo have sustained their production while

TAGINDECO had thirty workers but did not sustain their production. The managers of

the organizations affirmed that the production of coco net is in its second year. The

respondents agree that the production of the coco net is profitable with seventy to one

hundred thousand mean. Coco net products are tested through the different

experimentations before exporting or importing. The Department of Science and

Technology, Department of Trade and Industry, BIR, PCA, and LGU are the partner

agencies in assuming the quality of the coco net products.

The data revealed that workers have attitude problems towards work. Workers

have lack compliance with the safety rules. The salary rate of the laborers, weaver,

mechanical laborer and time keeper are based on the national law standard salary rate.

While the production manager’s salary as the president of Sumo-sumo Farmer’s

Coconut depends on the production income. The researchers have validated the

mentioned objective in the production that was answered and successfully recorded.

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Tago is abundant with coconuts. Many by-products can make through this

coconut from fruits down to the stem and trunks. Many by-products can produce

through coconut. In the place where many of the people are coconut farmers, coco net

production can be established since it can be sustained by the people hence, develop

the economy of the place. Many economic possibilities may come to this place if the

government will give attention to this kind of agri-business establishment. Coco net can

be an eye opener for Tago towards economic possibilities of more jobs and

establishment business. It can help many farmers to sustain their daily living.

Coco net is a requirement, per Department on Public Works and Highways

standard or customized sized that is used for slope shield and soil erosion prevention.

Also, it is used for landscaping design and mining materials (www.olx.ph). This kind of

coconut products becomes more helpful at present to avoid soil erosion. The

government now days create its actions in mounting these precious treasures that our

country could produce to. Coco Nets made from coconut fibers. Which are used for

highway and road construction along slopes and embankments

According to (Arboleda) it recently potted agreement with China to study how

coconet could be yard in slowing desertification. Arboleda said that when it was offered

by Arboleda product for use in a landfill in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, the

Chinese were incredulous that it would be better than plastic netting. So Arboleda used

about 500,000 pesos own money to prove that coconet would work. Arboleda has also

strike a deal with a Sri Lankan company to make available the technical know-how on

how to use coco-fiber in that country. Arboleda also has contracts with companies in the

Netherlands to create doormats from the material and do joint research on other ways

to use coco-fiber. In addition, Arboleda has established a way to use the dust produced

when coconut husks are made into fibers (http://www.terradaily.com).

An improvement creates expenditure of the husk fibers to produce tough but

biodegradable netting that anchors the soil on sloping land as well as river banks,

maintenance against erosion while boosting the growth of vegetation. In line with the

continuing efforts’ toupgradethe structure technology thru realization of successful

research studies, this Department has approved the use of Coconet Bio-Engineering

Solutions, Item 518 for controlling soil erosion and slope stabilization, subject to the

provisions hereto attached. A Certificate of Warning Approval had been issued by this

Department, authorizing the use of Coconet Bio-Engineering Solutions in DPWH

Projects, from January 2008 until January 2013 (http://www.dpwh.gov.ph/).

The term Coco net come from the Coconut coir fiber twine woven into blankets of

dissimilar density. The said item product of coconut was used by the DPWH workers for

Engineer. The researchers study coco net as it is productive in today’s production and

abundant in municipality of Tago. There was significance why the researchers study

coco net since it was one of the livelihood projects that may help the daily living of the

Tago farmers. Not just their income for the day but for the rest of their lives as to next

generation and economic possibilities may come.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

This chapter contains the accumulated insights from the related studies,

and literature. After through and careful readings, the points that originated from

different references are carefully discussed.

Foreign

It landed the top prize of the 2005 BBC World Challenge, where it beat some 456

entries from 90 countries for best ground-breaking grassroots project and earned

Arboleda a 20,000-dollar prize and appreciation from both BBC and Newsweek

magazine. A late 1980s learning commissioned by the Philippines-based Asian

Development Bank into the situations of millions of coconut farmers in his poor Bicol

region motivatedArboleda'sdiscovery. The study conducted that originate that "most

farmers in Bicol be alive under the poverty line", incapable to earn sufficient money off

their small plots, Arboleda said (/www.terradaily.com).

The desiccated coconut meat, or "copra", was the only part of the tall plant that

had famous economic value -- the raw material for vegetable oil, soap; animal feed and

industrial developments. The thrown away husks was the largest waste product of the

coconut-growing regions. Arboledaassessed that the Philippines produces 12 billion

coconut husks a year with 75 percent of them thrown away. "Arboledawant to give jobs

to the farmers, specially the women," which often are left sluggish when the coconut

crop has been harvested, as it is said. "It founded a way to mill (coconut) husks, change

them to fibers and bring (the fibers) to the houses" of the farmers, where their wives

would spin them into a rough thread which in seizure is woven into the netting.

Accordingly, The Company Juboken Enterprises is a grouping of the nicknames

of Arboleda, wife’s name and son but also a Japanese word meaning "significant

venture". The company subcontract the thread and net-weaving to resident farming

families, open-handed them an extra daily income of 150-200 pesos a day. Arboleda

says the product not only embraces the soil down against erosion. It also absorbs

water, stopping soil runoff from rains while helping as a fertile bed for plant growth. It

can also be installed manually unlike alternatives which often need heavy equipment.

"Before, everyone would use plastic nets or steel wire," or even real to shore up slopes,

as it is said. "Coconut fiber is low-cost, it does not weaken quickly," Arboleda said,

permitting plants to grow in coconet-covered slopes or river banks, to eventually anchor

the soil down.

The hand-spun coco coir twine that is to be woven into coconut geo nets intend

to have a diameter of 5mm plus or minus 10%. The coco coir twine shall have a tensile

strength of not less than 150N (dpwh.gov.ph).Coco coir and peat have varied uses.

These include: coir geotextile, coconets, coco fascines for national market in DPWH

projects and mining sites and for export to China, US, and Asia; coir mattresses and

rubberized coir for export and domestic markets; coir tufted mats for the domestic and

export market in US, EU and Asia; coir twines and yarns for the domestic market as

input to coco net lacing and tufting and for the export market in China, Asia, Europe and

USA; and coco peat as a versatile soil conditioner and risingaverage for the European

market and native nurseries, and landscaping (http://ucap.org.ph).

The coconut net from Philippines is being used in China’s desertification for

effective riprap and soil erosion control while Japan is a major buyer of coco peat for

animal bedding. Currently, the country’s export market for coconut products which

include coco fiber and coco peat are USA, Canada, Mexico, Germany, France,

Netherlands, Spain, Japan, Korea, China, Mongolia, Egypt, Israel, UAE, Saudi Arabia,

Australia, and New Zealand.

Sri Lanka manufactured 147,000 MT of coir in 2012 and is the major exporter of

coir in the world. But its coconut area of 394,840 hectares is less than that of Bicol, with

453,501 hectares. The Philippines is only able to produce 13,000 MT of coir each year.

The capability of coir to fight microbial attacks and salt water damage, and its low decay

frequency make it a very good material for geotextiles. Coco geonets are now

considered to be the more practical, less costly, and more sustainable alternative to

concrete and riprap, for slope protection and erosion control. Sri Lanka and Vietnam are

only making 2.0 million MT and 1.1 million MT of coconuts respectively. These are just

12.6% and 7.9% respectively, of the bulk of coconuts produced by the Philippines. But

Sri Lanka is capable to generate 11.3 times as mucha coir and Vietnam is producing

23.1 times as much coir as what the Philippines is producing (http://drive.daprdp.net/).

Accordingly, (Alibaba.com) the Natural high-strength net thru from 100% coconut

fiber, Hung Coconet makes available fast protection against erosion. In Philippines,

Hung Coconet is broadly used in new road embankments where soil is highly prone to

erosion. It is a confirmed slope protection portion worldwide. The innocuous little

coconut has been called the “tree of life” because nearly all parts of the plant are useful.

The inside shell, for example, has coarse fibrous materials called “coir” which

make up 1/3 of the coconut pulp. These fibers are heavy-duty and yet flexible. They are

pliable enough to screw mechanically or by hand without breaking. It is waterproof and

one of the few natural fibers able to repel the damaging effects of salt water. And it is

biodegradable, it is also ecologically friendly.Coconut shells and husks thrown away by

buko sellers once clogged the rivers Las Piñas and Zapote Rivers. Now, nets prepared

of coco coir are used to rip rap the length of the riverbanks. This operational natural

solution to prevent flooding is 80% cheaper than conventional riprap techniques like

cement and stone and is also useful in preventing soil erosion.Woven like beehive

comb, the net lets plants to grow inside the cell like openings to further footing back the

soil with their long roots. Related to plastic nets, the coco coir net is tougher, almost

impervious to the harmful effects of sun and water. Plus, it is biodegradable as the

material leisurely rots over time into small bits fertilize the soil

Additional uses for coir fiber include potting medium for horticulture uses,

hydroponics, and erosion controller. These varied uses have enlarged the demand for

the coconet and have in turn, twisted a source of livelihood to a number of Las

Piñascitizens who weave the coco coir into nets. The Las Piñas local government has

distributed twining and weaving paraphernalia and providing electrical support for its

residents who have made coconet weaving their own small family business.

The Philippines is being situated to rank among the world’s top three largest

exporters of coconut coir by 2016, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)

Undersecretary Merly Cruz said after the recently concluded National Coco Coir Summit

was able to build a coming together among industry players and government agencies

to push the marks set for the industry. Based on the industry plan, the following goals

are set to be accomplished by 2016: $50 million in exports; P1.7 billion in domestic

sales; P2 billion in investments; 200,000 farmers and 450 SMEs assisted; and 10,000

jobs created.

To achieve these goals, Cruz announced two new government programs that

would support the industry. These are the Shared Service Facilities (SSF) of the DTI

and Coco Tufting Facility of the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA). At present, there

are 30 recognized SSFs in the various regions of the country. These programs are

aimed to ripen and expand domestic supply-base for coco coir; to fortify access to

domestic and export market data; to strengthen market linkage among actors within the

worth chain to support the targets. Cruz presented four business models for coir

processing: community-based integrated processing; big-brother integrator (with

decorticating plant and outsources twining to communities and serves as integrator);

tufting facility as market consolidator of coco twines; and triple-armor application of coir

in mining sites. She also mentioned a potential business model on the coco peat as

high quality growing media produced through a totally controlled process

As stated in (drive.daprdp.net) The Philippine Rural Development Program

(PRDP) is 6-year program that targets to develop a comprehensive, market - oriented,

climate - resilient agri - fishery sector, by strategically advancing in priority value chains.

PRDP will work with the private sector and the local government in mounting rural

enterprises, and in providing key infrastructure, facilities, technology and information that

will increase incomes, productivity, and competitiveness in the countryside. The Bicol

Region (Region V) is among the 16 regions where PRDP will be executed. Theregion

has the largest area collected for coconuts in the Philippines, accounting for 12.7% of

thetotal coconut hectares in the Philippines. Albay and Camarines Norte are the top

manufacturersofcocogeonets in the region. Using a predefined criterion for suitability,

market potential, number ofplayers, and poverty incidence, coco geonets was selected

from among the regional AFMPcommodities of Bicol as a primacy commodity for PRDP.

As it is stated the fact that Bicol region now a day is the biggest manufacturer of coco

coir based or geo textile net around the world as it is broadcast in BBC new son

television show.

Program Beneficiaries Development Division (PBDD) Chief Fe Mosquera said

the Trade Expo goals to notify the public about the events of the department and to

endorse the products of farmer-beneficiaries, as well as market their products not only

in the country but also internationally. The said activity is participated by farmers,

businessmen, and entrepreneurs from Luzon and Visayas (admin_PAmrS).

Accordingly, The Philippine Coco Coir Export Producers Association, Inc.

(Philcoir) is boosting all producers of coco coir crops to make some value-adding to

their produce.

Philcoir vice president Reynaldo Go said during the National Coco Coir Summit

focus group conversation held in Davao City newly that a ongoing shift from coco coir

exports to value-added products like geo-textile and rubberized coir must be

considered. Go said that by proposing value-added coco coir foodstuffs to the

international market, producers are assured of greater income and wider market reach.

News from the Bureau of Export Trade Promotion (BETP) of the Department of

Trade and Industry (DTI) show that the plea for geo-textile, a by-product of coco coir, as

an erosion resistor material in China alone is estimated at 270,000 square kilometers

and its desert areas are increasing at a rate of 1.27 percent annually due to sandstorms

befalling during the months of October to December. Go said that China vestiges to be

the biggest market for all coco coir providers in the world which include the Philippines,

Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, and Indonesia.

Sideways from coco coir, Go said that other ingenuities may also be viewed into

the intensive elevation of coco peat as animal bedding material to markets like Japan

and China and extensive promotion of coco peat in the local market as savory for

coconut plantation and vegetable and flower farms. Meanwhile, Philcoir said the

government must make sure that coconut trees in the country stay healthy, strong and

great yielding in order for the industry to be viable.

“Fertilization of coconut treesconsuming, among others, coco peat or coir dust,

must be ann height priority program. The use of coco peat as amodel soil conditioner for

coconut farms bring about in higher yields for coconut trees has already been proven a

lengthy time ago in India and Sri Lanka by scientific papers and real applications,” the

group said in a position paper presented during the summit. The group also asked for

protection from government against the indiscriminate entry of foreign-owned

decorticating plants which resulted to “price war” for husks.

“They have pragmatic that foreigners, notably, Korean, Japanese and Chinese

financiers have arrived the countryside, set up and function decorticating plants in

violation of pertinent laws and regulations,” the Phil coir said. It mentioned a case in Sta.

Maria, Davao del Sur wherein Korean, Chinese and Japanese investors operate

decorticating plants which raised the cost of hauling husks from areas even beyond the

50-kilometer radius established by local industry players.

“The in height concentration of decorticating plants in one area has resulted in

weighty competition for the restricted supply of husks in Sta. Maria and nearby areas as

well as a price war for husks, thereby bringing up the price to prohibitive and

uneconomical levels,” the group said.

The undiscriminating and unlawful operations of decorticating plants by

foreigners are dangerous and costly for all, particularly to legitimate Filipino coco coir

processors. it urge the government to intrude and stop such illegal actions of these

foreigners,” it added. Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways

(DPWH) has proclaimed that it will take full advantage of in the implementation of

projects the use of coconut fiber made into geonets like coconets, coco-twines, and

coco peat as bioengineering materials for soil erosion control and slope stabilization.

Stakeholders of the coco coir industry praised the department order of the DPWH

setting customary specifications for bio-engineering products and solutions by coconut

fiber in fabrication of coconut geonets. The DPWH’s department command is based on

Malacanang’s memorandum circular 25 directing all national and local government

organizations to use coco peat or coir dust and coconut fiber materials for soil

acclimatizing and erosion regulator.

The national government pushes for this program to endorse better farm carry

out and environment conservation to soften the effect of drought. One of the DPWH

projects identified to have coconet application is the national road along Surigao Sur –

Davao Oriental Coastal Road, Comval. The broadening of Davao City Diversion Road,

the Maa-Bangkal Section, and also the road development in Talomo is also designed to

have coconetapplication. The road advancement along MontevistaCompostela new

Insights Gained:

The insights gained by the researchers have broaden and added to the claim of

this study. Coco net production has been widely produced and used in some other parts

of the planet and locally, can be found in almost all places in the Philippines where

coconut farming is evident.

The National Government pushes for this kind of program to endorse best

farm carrying out the environmental conservation to soften the effect of drought/ dry

season. One of the DPWH projects was identified to have coco net application is the

national road along Surigaodel Sur, Davao Oriental Coastal Road, and Compostela

Valley. The road widening of Davao City Diversion Road, the Maa-Bangkal Section and

also the development road of Talomo is designed to have coco net application. The

road advancement along MontevistaCompostela new Bataan MaragusanMati Boundary

Road, Libuton Saddle Section and others is one of the acknowledgement projects of the

government.

Having coco net production all over the Philippines it made more opportunities for

many Filipinos to have decent works. From twining, gathering coco husk and laboring to

making of coco net mat. It is much showed and endorsed to have this kind of livelihood

project to be available to help our co-Filipinos. There are many ways to use the coco net

from net, to manmade basket, More projects implemented by government to strengthen

the coco net production. More laborerswill have salary to help their daily needs. It is also

one of ways to reduce poverty problem that our country is facing as of the present. More

jobs come up and more opportunities to economic development Philippines will surely

be in process to become future invested country business. The start of developing

towards new stage of economic status development and become industrialized country

in a near future.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter deals with essential elements of the research process the such as

the research design, research setting, sampling procedure, research respondents,

research instruments, data gathering procedure and statistical treatment.

Research Design

The study used the quantitative and descriptive method. This method

incorporated a fact- finding process of classifying, analyzing and interpreting data. It is

deemed appropriate because this study assessed the coco net production in two

Barangays of Municipality Tago, Surigaodel Sur who have the coco net production

activity done and found.

Research Locale

The study was conducted in Municipality of Tago, Surigao del sur, Philippines.

Tago is located in the central part of Surigao del sur facing the Pacific Ocean. It lies

between 126 degrees 12 minutes longitude and 9 degrees minutes north latitude. It is

bounded on the north by the capital Town of Tandag , on the northwest by Municipality

of Lanuza, on the west by Municipality of San Miguel, on the southeast by Municipality

of Bayabas and on the south by municipalities of Cagwait and Marihatag.

Research Respondents.

The respondents of the study were the co-owner of coir based plantation,

workers who worked in the said plantation and Tagindeco officials and employees on it.

Researchers typically rely on the random sampling technique to acquire a section of

population to perform an experiment or observational study. It is important that the

group selected should be the representative of the population and not biased in a

systematic manner.

Research Instrumentation

The researchers conducted the study using a validated questionnaire as their

ultimate and vital tool in gathering data. It was validated by the Adviser, panelist and

officer-in-charge of the Philippine Coconut Authority Tandag.

Data Gathering Procedure

The research study formulated a systematic process in collecting specific

information to the respondents that could help in building this study more informative.

First, the researchers created a questionnaire that asked question on the respondents’

profile, background about Coco net Production in Municipality of Tago, Surigaodel Sur.

Second, the researcher sent an approval letter to the respective personnel of

Surigaodel Sur State University for the permission and approval to conduct their field

research study. Third, the researchers sent an approval letter to the City Mayor asking

thru Municipal Agriculturist about the list names of complete Barangay Captains and

owners of Coconet plantation, Barangay Captains of each Barangay for the permission

and approval to conduct the study in the community. Fourth, upon the approval, the

researchers then personally administered the questionnaire to the respondents. Lastly,

after administering and retrieving the questionnaire, the data were analyzed and

interpreted.

Scoring Procedure

It was reflected in the research instrument to assess the economic status for the

profile of the respondents using the verbal description; strongly agree, agree,

undecided, disagree and strongly disagreewhich are the responses of the Coco net

Production workers in Municipality of Tago, Surigao del Sur. To find out the process

undertaken for Coco net Production used equipment and tools and towards the Coco

net Laundering as one of the Livelihood Projects of each barangay, the following

scoring method was used.

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the summary of findings, the concluding statements and

corresponding recommendations.

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

The researchers summary was found out the through the data gathered. The

researcher found out that the most number of respondents was females with a

percentage of 55.83.Based from the response of the one hundred twenty respondents,

it was find out that most of the age were thirty two and above years old with a

percentage of 79.16 as shown by the data.

From one hundred twenty responses, the researchers found out that the most

number or percentage were secondary level with a rate of 44.17. Civil status of the one

hundred twenty farmer respondents of Barangay Sumo-sumo revealed that there were

78.33% who were already married.

The data further revealed that most of the respondents from Barangay Sumo-

sumo, Tago, have lived there for about eleven to thirty years with 65.84%. their income

per production range from two hundred to four hundred pesos with a percentage of

50.83.

trainings/seminars were attended by the coconut farmer of Barangay Sumo-sumo and

got a high percentage of 4.52 to 4.72. This means that the respondents strongly agree

to the indicator. The questionnaire, which was the vital tool for the gathering of the

needed data, revealed that farmers do not have much problem in their production. As a

result of the interpretation, it was found out that there were no common problems that

were faced by the farmers.

Definitely, the respondents strongly agree to the equipment/tool that was

subsidized by the government. Other respondents answered that there were many

equipment given aside from the mentioned and these are the following: saving machine,

ag-agan, decorticating machine, twining machine, organic fertilizers and shovel. The

respondents’ answers disagree to the one to six tons per month of coco husk’s

availability and there was only one that was undecided on seven to twelve tons per

month. Lastly, both quarterly has thirty to fifty tons per month and yearly with one

hundred to two hundred tons or more in the availability of coco husk were strongly

agreed.

The researchers identified the rate of willingness of the farmers to produce coco

net as it was found out that one hundred had disagreed which means that the do not

want to give full effort to produce coco net. Meanwhile, ninety and eighty-five percent

was undecided based from the questionnaire answered by the respondents, and eighty

to seventy-five percent have agreed. This means that there were still plenty who are

willing to support the coco net production. The most highly rated response descriptions

was sixty and below percent with strongly agree statement which referred to the

respondents’ willingness to produce coco net.

There were only two respondent producers: Sumo-sumo and TAGINDECO.

These two have difference in their production of year when they were established,

however, TAGINDECO cut off its production because they lack the man power to

produce coco net. Sumo-sumo is a baby institution in producing coco net yet they have

sustained the production since most of the workers are coconut farmers. The number of

workers in Sumo-sumo has remained to fifteen but they were able to sustain their

production while in TAGINDECO, they have thirty workers but never made it to continue

their production. When it comes to location of the two producers, Sumo-sumo is found

along the highway. This is an advantage since there is an easy access of road.

TAGINDECO on the other hand can be reacted in two ways: one along the highway and

the other, in a diverted remote place.

The numbers of years in coco net production was certified true and correct based

on the questionnaire given to the owner/ manager of the organization. Strongly agree to

the one and two years in production of coco net while the rest of the statement was

strongly disagreed, that the organization will not have their following years in production

of coco net. It is means that the organization has not exceeded to one and two years in

production. Made was agreed was on twenty six and above tons in production of coco

net while the rest of the statement was strongly disagreed, it is mean that the

organization has 1.5 description that was strongly disagreed in production of coco net.

The respondents answer if coco net productions were strongly profitable agreed

to seventy thousand to one hundred thousand mean. The rest of the statements were

strongly disagreed and undecided. The researchers found out that the most of the

agencies mentioned have conducted a test to their product. The researchers further

found out that the mentioned agencies provide different experimentations for the

product before its exportation or importation, hence, the agencies (BIR, PCA, LGU,

DOST, and DTI) have been strongly agreed by the respondents.

The behavior of the respondents towards work was also identified in this study,

therefore, the following analysis and data have been found out. Unsafe behavior and

lack of compliance with the safety rules were rated as undecided. The words and

sentences above were true and certified correct. The salary rate standard of the

laborers in coco net production was based to the standard salary rate of our national

law. The weaver laborer, mechanical laborer and time keeper/checker have strongly

agreed that their wages were based to the standard salary rate of our national law,

while the production manager responded as ‘agree’ since his salary depends on the

production income. Delivery laborer rated undecided because the Sumo-sumo Farmer’s

Coconut Organization products are picked by DPWH and PCA which means no delivery

laborer salary.

Conclusion

After the data gathering, interpretation and analysis, the following conclusions

are therefore drawn:

1. TAGINDECO and Sumo-sumo produces can be compared from production of

coco net, to the workers behavior and to the area of business and facilities used

for the production and were definitely different. The length of production seems

so far different from each other. The Sumo-sumo Farmer’s Coconut

Organization was sustainable in its production while TAGINDECO was not

sustainable in its production due to the lack of man power. Sumo-sumo has the

so called huge of man power tool that’s why the production is still functioning

and can be seen through the eyes of the people rather than the TAGINDECO it

never know where’s the workers.

2. It is also found out by the researchers that the income of the farmers in Sumo-

sumo does not exceed to two hundred fifty rather, stay in one hundred fifty to

two hundred only. From the production farmers received not more than four

hundred just with the range of two hundred to four hundred only. The

certifications of validation test were totally strong and well seen to the structure

of the establishment and production of coco net.

55

COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

3. The different agencies were conducted test to the product before it representing

and selling to the public. The incomes of the laborers as stated to the summary

were strongly based on the rate of the national law.

4. Delivery laborer from TAGINDECO has its’ own truck to delivery through the

clients who ordered coco net while Sumo-sumo the DPWH and PCA will get or

pick up their ordered coco net product.

5. Hypothesis: certified that there was a significant difference between

Sumo-sumo and TAGINDECO through production of coco net products

and numbers of workers have.

Recommendation

The researchers want to recommend the following to the farmers and officials of

Sumo-sumo Farmer’s Coconut Organization and TAGINDECO:

1. To hire more laborers especially twiners and weavers especially those

coconut farmers and others who don’t have job. It will help them to boost

their daily income to sustain their living.

2. Train them on how to make coco net and how to twine coco rope used for

coco net production.

3. Increase their salary after three month in work if their job is excellent and

give benefits to help them be inspired to love to continue work at coco net

production.

4. Conduct and investigate to know more what is really needed for coco net

production to boost this kind of agri-business.

5. And to the laborers, put in the mind always thathard work will always gain

treasure to succeed. With willingness the production will boom well.

Interest workers must have courage to face and make challenge to make

a difference towards a better life and future for the next generation.
