The one character that caused the most tragedy in this play by Shakespeare was

Romeo from Montague’s kingdom. He’s the literal definition of stupid. First he was in
love with Rosaline, and then when he sets eyes on a 13 year old girl he can’t hold back
himself and instantly falls in love. She also suspiciously falls in love with him after
dancing for like 30 seconds on the dance floor. In Act 1 Scene 1, Romeo states that
“Why, such is love’s transgression./ Griefs of mine own lie heavy in my breast…” He
is referring to that he has fallen hard for Rosaline and it is weighing him down
because he knows that she is never going to see him in the way that he wants her to.
Since he dropped Rosaline so fast after seeing Juliet, he might have just been so struck
with grief that he held on to anyone that would have loved him that was around him.
The love between Romeo and Juliet causes a lot of tragedy in the story because their
love leads to multiple people getting angry, them getting married illegally, two people
dying and both Romeo and Juliet killing themselves. If Romeo hadn’t gone to the
Capulet’s house that evening for the party, neither of them would have fallen in love
and they wouldn’t have died at the end of the play. Romeo crashing the party in the
first place ultimately lead to the whole plot of the story, and it could have been easily
avoided.
