What is death?

Death in the context of:

MEDICINE
 Stopping of heartbeat and breathing
 Death is the cessation (stoping) of all biological functions that sustain a living organism.

RELIGION
 What is life after Death?
o Eternal Life (through accepting Jesus Christ as our savior)
o Reincarnation (aspect of a living being starts a new life in a different physical body or
form after each biological death.

PHILOSOPHY
 Socratres and Plato
o View human nature as dualistic or composed of soul and body.
o Pursuit of bodily pleasures as the root of all will in the society.

 NIETZCHE
o Free Spirit
o Saying yes to life
o Suffering is a part of life that is imperative to achieve greatness.
o Free Spirit is one that is grateful for everything that has happened.
o Enjoying life to the fullest.

 EPICURUS
o Death is nothing to us
o Death endures neither pleasure nor pain.
o The only thing that bad for us is pain.

 ARISTOTLE
o Soul was responsible for the existence of the body.
o Soul could not survive death since it was the source of locomotion for the body.
o Soul is dependent on the body, if the body dies, then the soul die too because it cannot
exist alone.
