Participants: All Grade 12 HUMSS students

RATIONALE
In line with the objectives stipulated in the Culminating Activity curriculum guide where
students have to produce an activity that will combine their learning in specialized learning
areas under humanities and social sciences (HUMSS_CA12-Ia-d-1-5, HUMSS_CA12-Ie-
IIf-6, HUMSS_CA12-IIg-7), various events are to be contested by the Grade 12 students
of Humanities and Social Sciences strand that will create a friendly and perceptive
atmosphere for the students. This activity will definitely be an avenue for the students to
showcase their diligence in the past 4 semesters of the senior high school years.

By this means, the students of grade 12 Hernandez would like to propose an activity
entitled Utok-Can-Do-This where the participants’ knowledge from the 1st semester of
grade 11 until the 2nd semester of grade 12 will be dug to challenge their retention of the
8 specialized subjects and other concepts. In other words, this activity will cultivate the
minds of the HUMSS students that will greatly enhance their skills and capacity in
memorization and analyzation. Hence, Culminating Activity will serve as a bridge in
connecting the students to their passion as HUMSS students by improving themselves in
different areas of the social science field.

OBJECTIVES:
The activity, Utok-Can-Do-This, aims to:
1. promote camaraderie among HUMSS students;
2. improve the knowledge and understanding related to all specialized subjects of
the Humanities and Social Sciences strand; and
3. let the students experiences new activity that can encourage physical and mental
wellness.

MECHANICS:
A. Twist Bee
1. Each section will have a team of 2 members.
2. On the board, all the category with its corresponding point value will be
shown.
3. Each team will pick a category and a point value for a question.
4. The team must give the answer in the form of a question before the facilitator
give the correct answer. The facilitator may want to set a time limit for
answering the question.
5. To see if a student or group is correct, shout “HUMSS nagud ni” for the
answer.
6. If the student or team is correct, they are awarded the point value of the
question. And continue for the another question. Otherwise, another team will
choose for a category and its point value.
7. Continue until all questions have been answered. The team with the most
points wins.

B. Step-Up, Athena
1. Each section may have at least 3 participants.
2. Participants of the same section are not allowed to coach each other.
3. For the first round, the host will be questioning each participant one-on-one,
it will be a series of questions and each players will be getting 2 questions. If
the participant got the wrong answer, he/she will be eliminated.
4. For the second round, the host will ask a question and whoever raise their
hand first got to answer the question, if he got the correct answer, he/she will
step in the pyramid but if he/she got the wrong answer, other player may steal
the question but only for 2 attempts.
5. The first two players who reach the top portion of the pyramid will fight for the
third round.
6. For the third round, the first player who topped the pyramid has the advantage
of picking the category he/she wishes to answer.
7. After reading the question the player needs to supply all the items for the
question being asked.
8. Whoever got the highest score wins.

C. Sino ni?
1. There will be five (5) famous social science icons cosplayed by the
facilitators.
2. This is an eliminating game.

3. There are three (3) rounds all containing 5 questions. However, on the third
round, there will be a series of questions until the facilitator will announce the
winner.
4. On the first round, the questions contains the personal information about
famous icon. For the second round, the questions contains significant works
and for the third round, questions will be all about the icon’s contribution,
general information, etc.
5. After the facilitator had given the question, the participants have 5 seconds to
queue before the icon of the correct answer.
6. The last person to stand the game wins.
