Lesson 3: Human dignity as inviolable and inalienable

Human dignity is the foundation of catholic social teaching


Individual human beings are the foundation
Being in the image of God = human dignity

The dignity of human person is:


Innate
Inviolable
Inalienable
Universal

Human rights are fundamental rights essential to the exercise of human dignity

1. Early Romans- Dignitas referring to people appointed to public offices with


higher status in the society.
2. Cierco - Dignitas all humans are governed by reason while the latter by bodily
pleasures and instinct.

5. United nations was established 1945, it recognizes the dignity of every person in
universal declaratin of human rights (1948). The preamble and first three
articles of the declaration serve as its foundation of other rights.

Article XIII: Social Justice amd Human Rights
Section 1: The Congress shall give the highest priority to the enactment of measures
that protect and enchance the right of all the people to human dignity.

The comission of human rights was established during Marcos time
