Early life… Ambitions:

- Wanted to be a secretary, girls dreamed of it, having a powerful, rich man chose
you to represent his work place.
Hopes for the future:
- Work for a huge firm
- Husband, 3 children, 2 girls, 1 boy
Why did I end up in the Paper Factory? (thwarted)
- Mitch & I got divorced. His eyes and lips strayed. Uhm hum (tuts/sighs). My
husband was ordered by a court order to pay $50 per month for our boy, for child
support. He decided since I divorced him he wouldn’t pay that money, he never
paid, I had to step up for MY son.
- I swore that my son wouldn’t suffer from my mistakes & marriage status, it was
frown upon in those days to be divorced, so I had to get the first job I could find to
support myself. So, my sister told me about the Paper Factory, we saw an ad in
the paper, and I got my job! There were lots of women working with me, but not
everyone was married, some were like me. I remember I got my first pay and I
vowed to save for my boys education, he became my future & he is my world!
- 22 years at the factory and jonny was able to study, he wasn’t very clever bless
him, he took after his father (chuckle), but he got a scholarship studying sports,
he loved Baseball!
- I became lonely, my boy was away studying but my family gave me everything I
needed to survive alone, I bought smidge, I was never a cat person but now in
my 40’s I need a loyal companion as soon as I wake up and come back from the
factory each day & I most certainly don’t need a man.
