What are the things that you are most thankful for this 2019?
Read Ephesians 2: 8 – 10
When this year started, we desired a smooth sailing journey. Some made hashtags for their mantra, some made personal
prayers to pray and keep going, and some kept desires in their heart being hopeful for their life’s twist. As we went
through the year, we realized that a smooth sailing journey isn’t for us. God allowed us to experience ups and downs in
every aspect of our lives. There are some of us that have desires that are unmet, some of us that dreamed that are
unachieved, and there are people who expected support from loved ones but ended up failing us. Despite all these, God
is still a great God as we have received blessings as well by a new friend, a new life event, a new service, and many other
blessings. God allowed everything to happen for us to realize that in the toughest or in the happiest moment of our lives,
He is still there. There are two things that God is teaching us in all these:
1. Grace
Grace is freely given to all of us. Not because we deserve it but because He loves us so much. Whatever situation
we are in right now, there is grace. Even at the lowest point of our lives, there is grace. Even at our highest point,
there is grace. We just have to acknowledge it because this is a sign of His unconditional love for us.
2. Gratitude
This is a virtue quite taken for granted. We often splurge ourselves with our cravings, desires and a lot of things
thinking that we deserve everything but in reality we are just his lowly servant and we deserve nothing. That why, in
every blessing that we will receive, it may be small or big blessing, our hearts should always be grateful.
Grace and gratitude goes hand in hand. One cannot be grateful without recognizing the graces that come from the Lord.
And as we receive these graces from His love, let us allow the Holy Spirit to work in us and use us as an instrument of
grace as well.
Christmas is about sharing. Do a concrete ways of how you can share your
blessings to others as an act of gratitude to God.
