Computer Hardware & Software

 A computer system consists of two major elements: hardware and software.

 Computer hardware is the collection of physical parts of a computer system.
This includes the computer case, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. It also
includes all the parts inside the computer case, such as the hard disk drive,
motherboard, video card, and many others. Computer hardware is what you
can physically touch.
 Computer software, on the other hand, is not something you can touch.
Software is a set of instructions for a computer to perform specific operations.
Types of Computer Hardware

 Input Devices; An input device is a peripheral (piece of computer

hardware equipment) used to provide data and control signals to
an information processing system.
 Output Devices; An output device is any device used to send data from a
computer to another device or user.
 Storage Devices; An storage device is a piece of computer equipment on
which information can be stored.
 Communication Devices; Communication devices are the machines that assist
in transmission of data.

Vivo Mouse
Vivo Mouse is an innovative three-in-one input
device that functions as a mouse, touchpad and
wireless remote. Its versatility, coupled with an
ambidextrous, hand-fitting design and full support
for Windows 8.1/8 gestures, makes Vivo Mouse
convenient and comfortable to use for right- and
left-handed users alike. It works interchangeably as
an optical mouse and desktop touchpad, so it is an
ideal input device for Windows 8.1/8 PCs without
multi-touch displays. With its wireless PC connection,
Vivo Mouse also works great in the living room as a
remote control for a home theater PC.

RFID
RFID stands for Radio-Frequency Identification. The
acronym refers to small electronic devices that consist of
a small chip and an antenna. The chip typically is
capable of carrying 2,000 bytes of data or less. The RFID
device serves the same purpose as a bar code or a
magnetic strip on the back of a credit card or ATM card;
it provides a unique identifier for that object. And, just
as a bar code or magnetic strip must be scanned to get
the information, the RFID device must be scanned to
retrieve the identifying information.

Digitizer
Digitizer is an input device which converts analog
information into digital form. Digitizer can convert a
signal from the television or camera into a series of
numbers that could be stored in a computer. They can
be used by the computer to create a picture of
whatever the camera had been pointed at. Digitizer is
also known as Tablet or Graphics Tablet because it
converts graphics and pictorial data into binary inputs.
A graphic tablet as digitizer is used for doing fine
works of drawing and image manipulation
applications.

Bar Code Reader

Bar Code Reader is a device used for reading bar
coded data (data in form of light and dark lines).
Bar coded data is generally used in labelling
goods, numbering the books etc. It may be a
hand held scanner or may be embedded in a
stationary scanner. Bar Code Reader scans a bar
code image, converts it into an alphanumeric
value which is then fed to the computer to which
bar code reader is connected.

Touchscreen Monitor
These devices double as an output and input
device. They display the computer environment
on screen, and allow a user to manipulate and
interface with it just by touching the screen.
These can take the place of a mouse and even a
keyboard if a virtual keyboard application is
installed.
Output Devices using Latest Technology

3D Printer
The 3D printer is a printing device that
creates a physical object from a digital
model using materials such as metal
alloys, polymers, or plastics.
Output Devices using Latest Technology

3D projectors
3D projectors filling screens typically from 92″
diagonal to 130″ diagonal, is a game changer.
Like in a theater, you are immersed in 3D, not
looking at some small 3Dbox. 3D
projectors are now being used for home
theater, for 3D gaming, in education, and for
specialty business and scientific applications.
Output Devices using Latest Technology

3D Display
A stereo display (also 3D display)
is a display device capable of
conveying depth perception to
the viewer by means of stereopsis
for binocular vision.
Output Devices using Latest Technology

Headphones
Headphones (or head-phones in
the early days of telephony and
radio) are a pair of small listening
devices that are designed to be
worn on or around the head over
a user's ears.
Output Devices using Latest Technology

Plotter
A plotter is a printer that interprets
commands from a computer to
make line drawings on paper with
one or more automated pens.
Storage Devices Using Modern
Technology

Buffalo Drive Station DDR

The Buffalo Drive Station DDR is a USB 3.0
desktop external hard drive that's the first
to incorporate 1GB of DDR3 system
memory as cache, and in doing so offers an
unprecedented superfast data rate. The
drive offers a real-world sustained data
transferal speed of more than 200MBps.

Technology

Flash Drive
A flash drive is a small, ultra-portable storage
device which, unlike an optical drive or a
traditional hard drive, has no moving parts. Flash
drives connect to computers and other devices
via a built-in USB plug, making a flash drive a
kind of combination USB device and cable. One
of the first flash drives was just 8 MB in size. The
largest one I'm aware of is a USB 3.0 flash drive
with a 1 TB (1024 GB) capacity.

Secure Digital Card

An SD Card (Secure Digital Card) is an ultra
small flash memory card designed to provide high-
capacity memory in a small size. SD cards are used
in many small portable devices such as digital video
camcorders, digital cameras, handheld computers,
audio players and mobile phones. In use since
1999, SD Memory Cards are now available in
capacities between 16 Megabytes and 1Gigabyte.
An SD card typically measures 32 x 24 x 2.1 mm and
weighs approximately 2grams.

Technology

Synology DS412+
The Synology DS412+ is a four-bay NAS system
that currently offers the best balance when it
comes to performance, features, storage space,
and cost. With hard drives currently capping at
4TB, the servers offer up to 16TB of raw storage
space or 12TB of protected storage space. Like
any NAS server from Synology, it runs the Disk
Station Manager firmware to offer a vast amount
of features and functions that can be managed
via a robust Web interface. It's also one of the
fastest NAS servers on the market.

Seagate Backup Plus

The Backup Plus (available in 500GB, 750GB,
and 1TB capacities) is the latest portable hard
drive from Seagate. As its name implies, is
known for being extremely flexible. You can
use any type of peripheral connection with it,
be it USB, FireWire, Thunderbolt, or e SATA, via
separate adapters. You can also use the
included adapter to quickly connect any 2.5-
inch internal drive to a computer.
Communication Devices using Modern
Technology

Modem
A modem (modulator-demodulator) is a
network hardware device that modulates
one or more carrier wave signals to
encode digital information for
transmission.
Communication Devices using Modern
Technology

Router
A router is a networking device
that forwards data packets
between computer
networks. Routers perform the
traffic directing functions on the
Internet.
Communication Devices using Modern
Technology

Bluetooth USB Adapter

A Bluetooth USB-based Adapter
device that transmits and
receives Bluetooth wireless signals. It
plugs into the USB port to
support Bluetooth mice, keyboards
and other Bluetooth devices. Also
called a "Bluetooth dongle."
Communication Devices using Modern
Technology

Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi or WiFi is a local area wireless
computer networking technology that
allows electronic devices to connect to
the network, mainly using the 2.4
gigahertz (12 cm) UHF and 5 gigahertz
(6 cm) SHF ISM radio bands.
Communication Devices using Modern
Technology

Network Switch
A network switch is a computer
networking device that connects
devices together on a computer
network, by using packet switching to
receive, process and forward data to
the destination device.
