Eva : Why are you so depressed?
Jazil : I am confused
Eva : Why are you confused?
Jazil : I haven’t paid for SPP
Eva : Have you asked for dispensation?

Eva : Why?
Jazil : They said that they wanted to give dispensation for the others; because I have often been given it.
Eva : You should be patient, I am sorry I can help you because you know my parents are not rich.
Jazil : It is OK, I appreciate it.

Confused = Bingung
Pay – paid – paid = membayar
Dispensation = Keringanan
Patient = sabar
Appreciate = menghargai, mengerti

Jazil : Vi, let us go to Eva’s house after school

Evi : I want to go to Internet cafe
Jazil : Why do you go there? It is a waste of money.
Evi : I have an assignment to search for narrative text in internet
Jazil : Is English assignment, is’n it?
Evi : Yes
Jazil : When will it be collected?
Evi : Tomorrow, therefore I have to go to internet cafe today
Jazil : I think my class also has this assignment as well; might you search it for me?
Evi : Why don’t we go together to internet cafe?
Jazil : I can’t, I have promised to Eva. Would you mind searching it for me?

Imah : Math.
Jazil : What? I forgot there’s Math today, I don’t bring Math book. Do you think this homework will be
collected?
Imah : Usually it is only discussed together. But I don’t know about this homework.
Jazil : Have you done yet?
Imah : I haven’t. There are many questions I haven’t answered. The questions are very difficult to answer.
Jazil : How about the others?
Imah : Most of them also haven’t. I think.

Erna : So far I have collected stamps from some countries but I

still should find other stamps.

Arya : Do you need much money for your hobby?

Erna : Yes of course I need much money because I order the stamps
so it costs little bit expensive.

Arya : Wow…. Your hobby is expensive.

Erna : Yeah but I like to do it.
Arya : Okay good luck with your hobby.
Erna : Thank you.

Bunga : (to her husband Ashraf). Why don’t we come to the market more often?

Ashraf : I don’t find it a very enjoyable place.

Bunga : But I do. I want to come here every day.

Ashraf : Come here every day, then. Who stops you? You have nothing better to do . . .

Bunga : Now, don’t shout, dear. I didn’t say I will come here every day; I said I want to come here.

Ashraf : Let’s not argue any more. Let’s quickly do the shopping and go home. The children must be getting
impatient.

Bunga : OK, here’s the shopping list. We’ll first buy toiletries and groceries and then go to the vegetable
stall.

Ashraf : That’s right. Let’s go to the department store next door.

SHOP ASSISTANT : What can I do for you, madam?

Bunga : We’re new to this store and we don’t know where things are. Can you tell us where the groceries
are? And the toiletries?

SHOP ASSISTANT : For the groceries turn right, madam, and then walk straight on until you come to the
end of the corridor. And for the toiletries, just turn left and you walk right into them.

Bunga : Thanks.

Later in the vegetable stall.

Ashraf : I want these 15 items. Please make me the bill quickly.

COUNTER CLERK : I’ll take only a minute, sir. Here’s the bill.

Bunga : Most of the vegetables I wanted to buy are stale. Some of them are even rotten. You should’ve
thrown them away.

COUNTER CLERK : Sorry, madam. In fact, yesterday the wholesale market was closed, and so we couldn’t
bring in fresh supplies.

Bunga : But that doesn’t mean you should sell rotten vegetables.

COUNTER CLERK : Sorry, madam.

Bunga : I won’t come to this place again.
Ashraf : Not until next week! Bye!

Artinya dalam Bahasa Indonesia :

Bunga : (Bilang pada suaminya, Ashraf). Mengapa kita tidak sering-sering pergi ke pasar
Ashraf : Saya pikir pasar bukan tempat yang menyenangkan.
Bunga : Tapi menurutku enak ko. Setiap hari saya ingin pergi ke sini.
Ashraf : Datang kesini setiap hari. Siapa yang melarang? Kamu ga da kerjaan lain yang lebih baik apa.
Bunga : Sekarang jangan teriak sayang. Saya ga bilang saya akan datang setiap hari. Maksud saya,
saya ingin datang ke sini.
Ashraf : Udah jangan bertengkar lagi. Ayo cepat belanja terus pulang. Anak-anak pasti tidak sabar
(menunggu).
Bunga : Ok, ini daftar belanjanya. Pertama kita beli peralatan kamar mandi, terus bahan makanan, lalu
pergi ke kios sayuran.
Ashraf : Baik, ayo kita ke toko serba ada di sebelah.
Asisten Toko : Apa yang bisa saya bantu, bu?
Bunga : Kami baru di pasar ini, kami ga tau tempat. Bisa kasih tau di mana toko serba ada dan toko
perlengkapan mandi?
Asisten Toko : Toko serba ada, belok kanan bu. Lalu jalan lurus sampai
mentok. Kalau toko perlengkapan mandi, belok kiri tepat ada di situ.
Bunga : Terima kasih.
Asisten Toko : sama-sama.

Beberapa saat kemudian di kios sayuran.

Ashraf : Saya ingin 15 ini (sambil ngasih daftar sayurannya). Tolong hitung biayanya secepatnya.
Pelayan Kios : Tunggu bentar pak. Ini biayanya.
Bunga : Kebanyakan sayurannya sudah basi nih. Malah ada yang sudah bau. Harusnya sudah di buang.
Pelayan kios : Maaf bu, kemarin seluruh pasar tutup jadi kami tidak bisa mendapatkan sayuran yang
segar.
Bunga : Tapi bukan berarti anda harus jual sayuran busuk kan?
Pelayan kios : Maaf bu.
Bunga : Saya tidak akan datang ke tempat ini lagi.
Ashraf : Tidak sampai minggu depan.
