end of aisle entryways to prevent supply

Superior design efficiency results in a solution that is sturdy,

installs easily and performs well. Custom extruded alluminum
vertical posts and header provide a rock solid frame for the
doors. Factory assembled track system allows for minimal
on-site installation time. The header and posts feature
integrated threaded channels along three sides for superior
flexibility in securing to cabinets, threaded rod or upper
containment system.

Single Sliding Doors

The single sliding door system has a

self-closing feature to help prevent
air leakage. Doors will hold in the fully
opened position to allow for bringing
equipment into the aisles. Door frames
can be anodized black or silver. Each
door frame surrounds a generous clear
insert to provide light and visibility into
the aisle. Standard inserts are UL94
rated but are also available in FM Global

door solution can be configured to
cover nearly any size aisle. The doors
are customizable to the height and
width of the aisle. They are available
in single-hinged and double-hinged
versions. For extra wide aisles,
extension panels can easily be added
as well. The robust Matrix Post serves
as the vertical frame from which the
doors will hang. This octagon shaped
post has a 2.5” diameter for extreme
sturdiness and rigidity.

Supports Door Only or Full Containment

The Matrix Post solution can be used for stand-alone aisle
end doors or they can be part of a self-supported full
aisle containment solution. In this application, the vertical
supports extend above the height of the doors to also
provide the support frame for containment above the
server cabinets. Cross supports between the posts allow
four using fixed panels, hanging panels or flexible strips for
the upper containment.

The Cool Shield Hanging Containment

Panel solution is designed to be
versatile, cost-effective and easy
to install. The frameless hanging
panels can be installed quickly to
provide vertical hot or cold aisle
containment. The clear, lightweight
panels effectively manage airflow by
separating cool supply air from hot
exhaust air to significantly improve
cooling efficiency. Panels can be
sized individually based on server
cabinet heights. Optional connector
clips and brush strips can be added
to panels to prevent gaps between
panels or cabinet tops. The result is a
highly functional vertical containment

Containment Panels

There are three primary components

to the Hanging Containment Panel
solution. The versatile Mounting
Header features a combination of
slotted and threaded channels to
allow mounting to a drop ceiling, strut
grid, steel decking or beam, cable
trays or nearly any fixed support.
The bottom of the header features a
large rectangular hollowed channel
which is sized to perfectly accept the
Panel Clamp Bracket. This bracket is
designed to secure a Vertical Panel
which spans from the top of cabinet
to bottom of mounting channel.
An optional set-screw can provide
additional fastening of the panel.

Cool Shield aisle containment panels

are a very attractive and efficient
method for managing the airflow in
hot aisle or cold aisle containment
applications. Our proprietary Cool
Shield channel is designed to tightly
frame the panels for a very effective
seal. Panel options (and fire ratings)
for our channel include twin-wall
polycarbonate (E84 Class 1), solid
polycarbonate (UL94), CPVC (FM
Global) and metal. Most are offered in
clear, translucent or opaque.

The Cool Shield Sliding Vertical Panels

is designed to provide the exceptional
sealing capabilities and high
aesthetics of a solid panel solution
without restricting access to the
cables behind the containment panels.
In certain applications, a vertical panel
containment solution can virtually
block access to cable tray, power
cords or other critical components.
Our sliding panel solution eliminates
that issue. Since we can frame two
overlapping panels, a technician can
simply slide one of the panels over to
reach through the containment area.
Once work is complete, the panel can
be returned to the closed position for
full containment.

Similar to a patio door in your home,

two panels share a single frame and
have a slight overlap in the middle.
Each panel can be slid over to fully
overlap with the other panel. Our Cool
Shield Double Channel features two
parallel grooves so that each panel is
fully framed in its own separate track.
The sliding panels themselves feature
a rigid aluminum frame with twin-
wall polycarbonate inserts. We utilize
a high-performance thermoplastic
runner along the bottom to ensure
smooth and easy sliding action.

Sliding Panels Allow Easy Access To Cables

The Cool Shield Double Channel, like all of our channels, can be
supported in numerous ways. It can connect to our self-supporting
Matrix posts or it can be suspended from ceiling, strut, threaded
rod, cable tray or nearly any other existing support. It is also typically
affixed to one of our door systems to provide a highly rigid integrated
containment structure. Straight or angled cross beams can utilized
to prevent bowing or deflection, even in long aisles.

The Cool Shield Hanging Vertical

Containment Panel solution is
designed to be versatile, robust
and easy to install. The hanging
panels features our unique threaded
H-Channel extrusion as a frame for
a twin-wall polycarbonate insert.
Brush strips along one side and
the bottom prevent unwanted air
leakage. Two metal connectors extend
vertically from the top of the frame.
These connectors clip into the bottom
of our standard Cool Shield extrusion
which is mounted at the ceiling
level. The result is attractive, highly-
effective vertical containment which
installs in minutes.

The panels are designed to be very easy to install and un-install

DROP PANELS

The Cool Shield Ceiling Thermal

Drop Panels feature clear inserts
which feature a melt point which is
below that of most fire suppressions
systems. If there is an extreme
temperature event, the feather-weight
panels will shrink and fall harmlessly
out of the way before a discharge
of the fire suppression system. The
panels are UL listed and are intended
to be used when the fire suppression
heads are located above the aisle
containment area. A light-weight but
durable 2” wide aluminum channel
frames the panel inserts for rigidity.
These framed panels span across
the cold aisle to seal in the cool air
provided by the cooling units.
This approach allows customers to
save 25 to 40% on cooling costs.

CEILING THERMAL
DROP PANELS

The framed panels rest on a perimeter

of the Cool Shield Channel which is
installed on the tops of the server
cabinets. A gasket is used between
the cabinet and channel to prevent
rattling or scratching. The channel
does not need to be fastened to the
cabinet. A catch plate is installed on
the outside edge of the channel on
both sides of the aisle so that the
panels are held in place and cannot
accidently fall into the aisle. A brush
strip along one side of the panel frame
ensures a tight air seal along gaps.

Individual framed panels can be easily removed if it becomes
necessary to access lights, cables or other object above the
contained space. Panels can be sized to accommodate aisle widths
ranging from 24” to 96”. Panels are pre-assembled at the factory to

Thick PVC strips were the first material

used for aisle containment in the data
center. They were inexpensive, easy
to cut to adjust to obstacles and were
very effective. However, fire rating
and outgassing concerns have forced
a shift to thinner, higher rated strip.
The problem was that these lighter
strips were less effective because
they easily separated when faced
