COLOURING COMICS

Part 1: Flat Colours

-Open “Comic Colouring.psd”

-Flatting is when you separate all of the colors using either the BRUSH tool, PEN tool, or
anything else that is easiest for you to use.

(If you use the PEN tool make sure it’s set to Paths NOT Shape Layer)

-Use the Flats layer to separate all of the colours in the image. Do NOT use the Paint Bucket tool
as it won’t fill in the areas nicely.
-However, once your flatting is all done you should use the Paint Bucket tool to quickly fill each Colour
to what you prefer, and make sure the tolerance for the Paint Bucket tool is at 0. Be creative!

-Now is also a good time to use the Color Overlay style on the Hair Inks layer and switch it to
something similar to her hair colour. Just double click the blue area on the Hair Inks layer and
the Layer Style window will pop up. Choose Color Overlay and select a hair outline colour to go
well with the flats.
