PT. Bina Sarana Sukses is one of the coal mining contracting companies of PT. Antang Mount Meratus.

The location of the coal mining area is located in Ida Manggala Village, Sungai Raya District, Hulu
Sungai Selatan Regency, South Kalimantan Province. Coal mining of PT. Bina Sarana Sukses uses a
surface mining system, in which an open mining system in mining activities will produce a mine opening
area on the mining work surface. During mining activities, the company will face major obstacles,
especially rainwater and ground water. Rainwater and groundwater will flow into the pit and inundate
it. In order not to disturb mining activities, an effort must be made to remove the mine puddle. A settling
pond design is needed that can accommodate the discharge of water released from the mining front.
Settling pond can function well if the dimensions of the settling pond design to be made are adjusted to
the amount or flow of water to be collected and deposited with mud. Settling pond to be designed by
considering the discharge of mine water and the discharge of water around the settling pond area. The
design of settling pond is based on incoming water discharge of 1,1796 m3 / second with each amount
of water entering, mine water using pump discharge of 0.222 m3 / second, runoff pond water settlement
area of 0.647 m3 / second, and rainwater which directly enters the 0.310 m3 / second settling pond area.
The settling pond is designed in the form of a sealed pyramid and has 4 compartments with dimensions,
area of 1772 m2, top width of 17 m, top length of 19 m, bottom width of 10 m, bottom length of 12 m
depth of 6 m, slope of 300, volume of pond 5119 m3. There are 3 pieces of insulation with a width of 3
meters, and a length of 14 meters. From these dimensions the settling pond can hold water and solid
particles of 4555 m3 for 64.42 minutes. For settling pond maintenance time to function properly and for
a long time, settling pond will be cleaned of sediment material using a 200-8 pc excavator, each
compartment has a different maintenance time, the first compartment is 11 days, the second compartment
is 80.69 days , third compartment 565 days, and fourth compartment 7998 days.
