BRIDGING THE GAP

1. Ask your parents/grandparents or guardian if they were aware of the events or issues described
in your chosen article and photo?

Yes, my mother was greatly aware of this. For her, she can remember how rapidly the
prices increased because as a mother, she was the one who controlled the finances of the family
and budgets it. She said that we were thankful enough that at that time, we still had the means
to buy the products.

2. How the events and issues described in your chosen article or photo affected the lives of your
parents/grandparents/guardian; and the society in general?

“It was a harder life to live especially in the provinces”, said my mother. It affected the
society where those people who earn minimum wages was not enough to sustain their families.
In provinces, it’s very hard to find jobs that could compensate the increase in prices that’s why
lots of people decided to look for job in the cities and even outside the countries.

3. Did these events and issues described in your chosen article or photo in any way or another
affect or influence your growing up years? You may ask your parents/grandparents or guardian
for more information and insights. Elaborate your answer.

Yes, it greatly affected the years I was growing up. It was because as time passes by,
prices would really increase and it could either benefit or misfortune to others. At that time, my
mother handles and budgets the money wisely. From time to time, she would tell us about the
current status of our finances so that we, too, could learn from it. She always reminds us to save
money always while you still have to be able to get through the everyday life where prices of a
person’s necessity would cost a lot. Up to this day, this teaching of my mother influenced me on
how should I handle my own finances and to always think about the future.
