Detailed Lesson Plan in Science IV

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the pupils will able to:
a. Identify that animals have different body parts and structures that make them to
survive
b. Describes how the body parts of animals protect them
c. Protect animals that live on the land.

Learning Task 2 – Motivation

I will group you into two and we will play.


This game is called as “PICTURE PERFECT.” In
two minutes, each group will guess if what
animal is in the acting picture perfect of the
performing group.
The student cooperate with their group and
perform well.

Learning Task 3 – Activity

I will divide the class into three groups.

I will give you pictures of three animals and


you will think of their body parts that help
them to survive in their particular area.

You will finish the activity in five minutes and

Feet – used as rudders in the water

Lumps- used for storing


Nostrils- open and close to prevent sand
Mouth – for chewing plants
Feet- to prevent from sinking into the sand

Claws – to fight for the predators and

Where we can find animals?


In our surroundings.
Correct. But can we find animals in air and in
water?
Yes teacher like bird and fish.

I have a dog and we are both in land.


Yes it is correct. We can also find different
animals in land and these animals are also
called as terrestrial animals.

Terrestrial is also known as land.

Is a desert is also a land?


Yes teacher.
What animal can survive on the desert?
Camel, scorpion and others.

How about on frozen areas? And cold areas?


In cold areas are the polar bear and yak while
in the frozen areas are penguin and sea lion.
Very good! And each animals that live on that
different land areas have a unique body parts
that make them survive.

Learning Task – 5 Abstraction

What are the different kind of terrestrial


areas that some animals can survive and give
me some animal that live on it and their
unique body parts that protect them or they
used in order to survive.
A cave wherein we can find bats and they
used their sense of hearing in catching food
and also to survive.
A polar bear in cold areas that has a thick fur
and long claws to hunt for their food and also
to crawl.

A camel in a desert area like Savanah, they


used their hill like lumps to store fats not
water so that they can survive in their very
hot habitat.
A penguin in a frozen area, they used their
flippers to swim and their beaks to catch
fishes on the ocean.
