Direct Control

● No native self-rule
● Gov’t based on
European styles

health practices
● Increased literacy through
schools and colleges

Negative:
● Restricted Indian-owned
businesses
● Changed farming practices
● Racist attitudes
Colony- a territory governed
directly by a foreign power
