The First Marinduque Arts Festival
Hosted by: The Hearts Council of Marinduque

This exhibition is open to all amateur visual and performing artists, art hobbyists, and
artisans/ crafts persons of all ages residing in Marinduque.

KEY DATES AND GUIDELINES


A proposal must be submitted to the Hearts Council Secretariat. Complete proposals must
be submitted prior to the deadline at 12 midnight, January 31, 2020. No partial proposals will
be considered.

Proposals must be submitted via email to: theheartscouncil@gmail.com . Physical


submissions will also be accepted.
We are unable to accept works consisting of decaying organic matter that could be
hazardous to visitors.
Submitting artists must reside and/or work in Marinduque and their work must be original.

Proposals MUST include the following information:


Artist’s full name and contact information (address, phone, email)
A brief biography/resume/summary of experience for the submitting artist (max. 200
words)
A brief description of the proposed artwork, including dimensions, media/materials, and all
technical specifications (for example, if power/data connections are required, if work requires
a vitrine or enclosure, etc.).
A short statement on the proposed artwork’s or performance’s relationship to the themes of
Marinduque’s Centennial (max. 150 words)
Images of the proposed artwork or representative sample(s) of previous works comparable
to the proposed artwork (max. 5 images, in JPG, PNG, or PDF format ONLY) For performing
artists, a copy or part of the lyrics, script, text, or musical notation of work or composition.
SELECTION PROCESS
Submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee that will include members of The
Hearts Council of Marinduque.
Finalists will be notified of their status by February 5, 2020. The committee reserves the right to
accept or reject proposals. Artists whose works are accepted will be required to submit their
finished artwork by February 12, 2020. Artists will be responsible for all transportation and
handling of artworks including provision of easels (for paintings). Performing artists’ work
will undergo a preview by selected members of the committee on February 12, 2020 at the
MSC College AVR.
Final installation of works for exhibition will take place on February 13, 2020. The venue for
the exhibition is at selected locations within Marinduque State College’s Boac Campus. The
exhibition will open in the morning of February 14, 2020 at the MSC College AVR and run
through the January 16. Performances will be held starting the evening of February 14 through
February 16.
