The operation of a rubber glove plant always poses an inherent danger to the environment where

the acidic process is concerned. Acid is used during the process and as a result, the gas is
emitted into the atmosphere. Such emission, if left unchecked, will cause serious pollution of the
environment and becomes a hazard to operational personnel. Acid will also accelerate heavy
corrosion on machinery and steel structures.

To overcome the above problems, Chlorine Fume Scrubber System is required. The system
listed herein is used to rapidly extract, and subsequently to neutralize chlorine gas during the
acidic process to prevent air pollution hazardous to humans and the environment. The scrubber
tower, base tank, exhaust fan & exhaust stack shall rest on a concrete floor.

The neutralizing agent used shall be 10% NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) solution contained in the
base tank of the system. The concentration of this solution is automatically regulated via a
dosing pump with a tube directly connected to a concentrated caustic tank.

Two units vertical seal-less recirculation pumps are supplied. An electrical control panel is
included together with the necessary controls ciw manual override switch for test running the
system. A I" dia PVC nozzle is laminated onto the exhaust stack for the convenience of the
operator sampling discharge fumes.

The base tank of this scrubber system incorporates 2" PVC drainage into the company's existing
waste water treatment plant. Drainage of the spent caustic is necessary when over the course of
time; the liquid loses its effectiveness in neutralizing the acid ic fumes. It is also necessary, as
pan of good maintenance and upkeep of the system, to empty the contents of the base tank
regularly in order to clean the internal surface to prevent the formation and buildup of salts.
Such salts may break away from the internal surface and hamper proper operation of the
recirculation pumps.
