SMOKE CURTAINS
Smoke curtains work in a very similar way to fire curtains. Both provide essential compartmentation,
containment, and channeling from the effects of a fire. Fire and smoke curtains are installed to ensure safe
evacuation in the event of a fire. In the case of smoke curtains, this is achieved by stopping, controlling and often
reducing the spread of smoke throughout a building.
Smoke curtains remain invisibly retracted until activated by an alarm, detector signal or manual switch. Once
triggered they descend safely to their operational position. Used in place of traditional non-load bearing walls,
smoke doors, and smoke screens, smoke curtains offer greater flexibility for designers and architects. Due to
their apparent invisibility, they enable open plan areas to be greater in size when compared to using other smoke
and fire safety equipment.
FIRE CURTAINS
A fire curtain is similar to a metal roller shutter in that it descends vertically as it un-rolls from a ‘top box’,
however because a fire curtain is made of a woven fiber glass material, it is much more flexible and
compact.This means a curtain can be more closely fitted within a space and therefore provides much better
compartmentation.The compact construction of fire curtains makes them an ideal choice for lobbies, hatches
and stairwells where there is limited space. When included in the design stage of a building, they can be
recessed into walls and ceilings leaving a thin slit as the only indication that the curtain is there

Fire partitioning walls are typically constructed of plaster board partitions. Fire-rated partitions are internal walls
that provide vertical fire separation in structures such as dividing walls. These walls are typically non-load
bearing. A fire-rated partition is a partition for which the fire resistance performance has been determined
according to the appropriate European standards. Similarly, the reaction to fire performance of the exposed
surfaces is also determined by the appropriate fire test standards. The requirement to determine the fire
resistance and the reaction to fire performance of a partition is stated in current building regulations.

FOAM FIRE SUPPRASION SYSTEM
Fire suppression foam is comprised of three parts: foam concentrate, water, and air. When mixed correctly, these
parts form a homogeneous foam blanket that extinguishes flames by the combined mechanisms of cooling,
separating the flame source from the product surface, suppressing vapors, and smothering. This makes foam
suppression systems an effective option for protecting flammable and combustible liquids.
CLASS A FOAMS
A foamlowers the surface tension of the water, which assists in the wetting and saturation of Class A fuels with
water. This aids fire suppression and can prevent reignition. Favorable experiences led to its acceptance for
fighting other types of class A fires, including structure fires.
CLASS B FOAMS
Class B foams are designed for class B fires—flammable liquids. The use of class A foam on a class B fire may
yield unexpected results, as class A foams are not designed to contain the explosive vapors produced by
flammable liquids. Class B foams have two major subtypes.

The optical sensor is suitable for most applications giving the fastest response to
slow burning or smouldering fires which give rise to large visible smoke particles.
MULTI DETECTOR-ULCAPT340
The photo-thermal sensor will espond quickly to fast clean burning fires yet

LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM
In a lightning protection system, a lightning rod is a single component of the system. The lightning rod requires
a connection to earth to perform its protective function. Lightning rods come in many different forms, including
hollow, solid, pointed, rounded, flat strips or even bristle brush-like. The main attribute common to all lightning
rods is that they are all made of conductive materials, such as copper and aluminum. Copper and its alloys are
the most common materials used in lightning protection
Lightning protection systems are used to prevent or lessen lightning strike damage to structures. Lightning
protection systems mitigate the fire hazard which lightning strikes pose to structures. A lightning protection
system provides a low-impedance path for the lightning current to lessen the heating effect of current flowing
through flammable structural materials. If lightning travels through porous and water-saturated materials, these
