Ref.: Railway Board's letter no. 2011/CE-I/Form/Spec., Dated 08.07.2019. 1. “Guidelines for Earthwork in Railway Project GE: G-1 July 2003", "Guidelines and Specifications for Design of Formation for Heavy Axle Load GE: G-0014 Nov 2009” and letter No. RS/G/108/Heavy Axle Load dated 26.10.2016 have been reviewed. After review ‘Rationalisation of Formation Layer Thickness on Indian Railway Track’ has been done and policy part of this document has been approved by Rallway Board vide reference above. 2. The provisions given in this document regarding thickness of Formation Layers supersedes instructions given in all earlier Guidelines of RDSO and RDSO letter no.RS/G/108/Heavy Axle Load dated 26.10.2016. The basic instructions (other than those contained in this document) detailed in "RDSO Guidelines for Earthwork in Railway Project GE: G-1 July 2003” and “RDSO Guidelines and Specifications for Design of Formation for Heavy Axle Load GE: G-0014 Nov 2009 shall continue to apply. aa a eh 3. The provisions in this document will apply to only new works. However the application of these guidelines may also be explored in ongoing works. 4. The above document “Rationalisation of Formation Layer Thickness on Indian Railway Track’is being sent herewith in hard and soft copy for implementation in field. Any difficulity in adoption of the new specification may please referred to RDSO. It is also requested that its implementation may please be monitored closely for initial two years and feedback/suggestions may be sent to RDSO for improvement, if any.
