Dear Parent/Guardian,
As part of our learning support programme, we use several sets of student data to monitor
your child’s progress and inform our teaching. One of the tools we use is the CAT4 Test from
GL Assessment to give us an accurate understanding of a student’s potential.
This test is usually administered to students in the months before they enrol in our school.
However, as your daughter did not take the test at this time, we will be asking that she do so
this Friday from 12:30 – 3:00 pm.
There is no need for your daughter to study for this test as it is a standardised cognitive ability
test. As cognitive ability is not particularly curriculum-related, the results will not be
significantly influenced by a student’s previous schooling or their subject knowledge.
This data is considered alongside any other assessments made throughout the year, formal or
informal, to inform our teaching.
At this test is conducted online, your daughter will need to bring in earphones (not Apple
device type) to listen to the testing instructions as she completes the test.
Should you have any questions about the test, please feel free to contact me on the above
telephone number.

Kindest Regards,
Paul Kelly
