SOV & Carbon Footprint Surcharge

Objective
Single occupancy vehicle (SOV) is one of the major reasons for high traffic congestion and
greenhouse gas emission in cities. It decreases the energy efficiency of transportation drastically.
This paper discusses on designing a mobile application, which will measure the SOV usage and
carbon footprint left by the vehicle on the environment. This paper also discusses on a framework
for imposing a Surcharge on SOV and CO2 emission to discourage SOV usage.

The average CO2 emission is around 130 gCO2/km.
