Dear Parents or Guardians,

Let me introduce myself. I am a graduate of The University of Texas at

El Paso with a degree in Microbiology, and then moved to San Antonio
and graduated from The University of Texas Health Science Center with
a Master’s degree in Toxicology. I am looking forward to a new school
term as your child’s teacher. This year will be an exciting time for all of
us. We will study Biology in preparation for the successful completion of
the state’s standardized tests next spring. I have planned many activities
throughout the course of the year that are designed to help your child
succeed academically, not only this year but also in the future.

Students and their parents or guardians are naturally curious about the
amount and types of homework to be assigned this term. There will be
homework assignments on most weeknights and weekends. You should
expect to see your child spending 1 hour reviewing, reading, working on
projects, or studying. A copy of the weekly schedule will be given to each
student to keep in his or her binder as well as posted on Canvas. In
addition, students are expected to copy their assignments into their
assignment notebooks at the start of class each day.

Two other procedures in the classroom that are very important to the
classroom are Lab Safety which will include wearing protective
equipment such as gloves and goggles as well as listening carefully and
following all directions. These procedures are very important to the
growth and well-being of the students in the classroom.

When you have questions or wish to talk with me about your child, please
fell free to e-mail me at ravila@sanantonioschool.edu or to call me at
school. Our number is (210) 555-1234.

I am looking forward to working with my new students this year. I am

also looking forward to meeting you and working with you to help your
child succeed.
