C) High Ionizing Power

 Water has slightly tendency to fall apart

(dissociate) into hydrogen ions (H+) and
hydroxide ions (OH-), thus making it an
excellent solvent.
 Water molecules have polar
arrangement of the oxygen and
hydrogen atoms—one side (hydrogen)
has a positive electrical charge and the
other side (oxygen) has a negative
charge. This allows the water molecule
to become attracted to many other
different types of molecules.
 Water is good at dissolving ions and
polar molecules, but poor at dissolving
nonpolar molecules
 A polar molecule is one that’s neutral,
or unchanged, but has an asymmetric
internal distribution of charge, leading
to partially positive and partially
negative regions
 Ionizing power is the power that is
required to convert any atom into ions.
So, the radiation should have enough
energy to remove or eliminate electrons
from its shell.
