WORD COUNT: 2500

Patrick is Pa Harry’s friend and they both live in Farato. On the advice of Pa
Harry Patrick decided to sell his Mitsubishi Pajero. He placed an advertisement
in Point Newspaper magazine on 1 May.

The advertisement stated:

For sale: Mitsubishi Pajero 2005 model. In excellent condition and only 70,000
miles. Serious offers only. Price: D600, 000.00 (Six hundred thousand dalasis
only).

The advertisement went on to give a P O Box number and an email address.

Matarr saw the advertisement and was very interested in purchasing the car.
As he did not own a computer, he sent a letter on 4 May to Patrick’s P O Box,
stating that he would be willing to purchase the car for the quoted
D600,000.00 (Six hundred thousand dalasis only).

The following day, 5 May, Fatou also saw the advertisement. She immediately
emailed Patrick, asking him if he had sold the car yet, and suggesting that if he
had not, she would buy it for D500, 000.00 Later that day, Patrick replied and
told Fatou that he had not sold the car, but would be willing to let her have it
for D550, 000.00 (Five hundred and fifty thousand dalasis only).

Fatou did not have the extra D50, 000.00 (Fifty thousand dalasi) that Patrick
had asked for, and so emailed him asking if she could pay D500, 000.00 (Five
hundred thousand dalasis) upfront and the remaining D50, 000.00 (Fifty
thousand dalasis) next month.

On 6 May, Samba emailed Patrick at 11am and enquired after the car. Patrick
replied, asking for D550, 000.00 (Five hundred and fifty thousand dalasis). At
3pm, Fatou found out that she had won D50, 000.00 (Fifty thousand dalasis)
on a lottery ticket. She immediately emailed Patrick, asking him to disregard
her previous email and telling him she wanted to accept the price of D550,
000.00 (Five hundred and fifty thousand dalasis).

At 5pm on 6 May, Samba replied to Patrick’s email agreeing to buy the car for
D550, 000.00 (Five hundred and fifty thousand dalasis). The next day, 7 May,
Matarr’s letter arrived in Patrick’s P O Box.

Advise Patrick whether any valid contracts have been made for the sale of the
car.
