1) We’re moving
a. Talked to a family therapist he recommended
i. Break down the news into parts
ii. What was going to stay the same, what was going to be
different, benefits
iii. Kept the conv positive
iv. The things that are going to change (make them positive as
well)
v. Compromise on things they want even if they move
vi. Talk about the new adventures that are coming (new friends)
2) Mommy is sick
a. Mommy has cancer
b. First he was 2 (too young to notice)
c. Then he was 4 (more aware)
d. Distinguish cancer from other types of illness
e. Picture book (cancer hates kisses)  portrays a mom going though
cancer experiences
f. Direct yet optimistic tone
g. Telling them it is serious
h. With kids questions give basic fast without full seriousness
i. Uses games
