God’s Will Is Healing

Lesson Notes

I. God Wants You Well!

• Healing starts with the knowledge that God’s will for you is healing. (Hosea
4:6).

• Jesus paid the price so we can be whole—spirit, soul and body. (Isaiah 53:5)

o By His wounds, we are healed and made whole—present tense.

• If you do not believe that healing belongs to you, faith will not be in operation
to receive it.

II. Dangerous Traditions

• Religious traditions keep people from receiving healing.

• Matthew 15:6 (NLT), “…you cancel the word of God for the sake of your own
tradition.”

• Traditions that steal your healing:

1. Tradition #1: It is God’s will for some to be sick.

▪ If this is true, why do people work so hard to get well? Doctors,

medicines, procedures.

▪ God doesn’t put sickness on people. It is people who allow it.

▪ We are joint heirs with Jesus, and therefore entitled to the rights
and privileges of the kingdom of God—including health and
healing.

▪ Romans 8:16-17 (NLT), “…we are God’s children. And since we

are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we
are heirs of God’s glory.”

2. Tradition #2: Healing has passed away—miracles don’t happen today.

▪ Exodus 15:26 (NLT), “I am the Lord who heals you.”

▪ God is a healing God—He doesn’t change. (James 1:17)
▪ Healing power was given to the disciples as part of ministering
the good news of Jesus Christ, and it is part of our ministry as
well. (Mark 16:15-18)

3. Tradition #3: God gets glory from Christians being sick.

▪ People gave glory to God when the lame walked and blind eyes
were opened—not when people were sick or dying.
▪ The Father is glorified when we bear much fruit (John 15:8).
Cancer is not a fruit. Arthritis is not a fruit. The world is not
impressed by sickness—it is something people struggle with
every day.

▪ We are called to be lighthouses to a hurting world, according to

Matthew 5:14 (NLT), which says, “You are the light of the world.”
A hurting world is not drawn to sickness—people need healing!

4. Tradition #4: Paul’s “thorn in the flesh.”

▪ 2 Corinthians 12:7 says, “I was given a thorn in my flesh, a

messenger from Satan to torment me…”

▪ Paul’s thorn in the flesh wasn’t sickness or any other physical

impairment; it was the continual opposition he faced.

▪ Satan wanted to stop the Word from being preached.

III. Healing belongs to YOU!

• Arguments against healing don’t match the Word of God or the spirit of God.

• Don’t let tradition rob you of your healing!

Prayer of Faith
Father, I see that it is Your will that I live a long life, in wholeness and free
from sickness and disease. Thank You for sending Jesus to take my sin and
sickness on the cross. I shake off all religious traditions that have hindered me
from receiving what is rightfully mine through Christ Jesus. In Jesus’ Name.
Amen.
